Intended Use
The AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 connects a STIHL AP battery to a STIHL tree care chainsaw, with a battery compartment for STIHL AP batteries.
The AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 serves to secure the STIHL tree care chainsaw with a bar length of up to 35 cm, on the climbing harness while working in trees.
The AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 may be used in the rain.
The battery may be used in the rain.
The STIHL AP battery supplies power to the STIHL cordless tree care chainsaw.
The AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 may not be used for work performed while standing on the ground or in a lift bucket.

- Users who have not received instruction are not aware of and cannot assess the dangers of the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 and the battery. The user or other persons may sustain serious or fatal injuries.

Read and understand the User Manual and keep it in a safe place for reference. - If the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 or the battery is passed on to another person: Always give them the User Manual.
- Make sure the user meets the following conditions:
- The user is rested.
- The user must be in good physical condition and mental health to operate and work with the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 and the battery. If the user is able to operate the equipment but has physical, sensory or mental limitations, the user may only work with the equipment under the supervision of or after receiving instruction from a responsible person.
- The user can recognize and assess the hazards of the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 and the battery.
- The user is an adult or is being trained in an occupation under supervision according to national regulations.
- The user has received instruction from a STIHL authorized dealer or other experienced user before using the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 for the first time.
- The user is not under the influence of alcohol, medication or drugs.
- If you are unsure: Contact a STIHL authorized dealer.

Safe Condition
AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1
The AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 is in a safe condition if the following points are observed:
- The AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 is undamaged.
- The AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 is clean.
- The overload ring is undamaged.
- The AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 functions properly and has not been modified.
- The AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 is correctly installed and secured.
- The carabiner is undamaged.
- The carabiner is correctly installed and secured.

- If not in safe condition, components may no longer operate correctly, and safety devices may be rendered ineffective. Persons may be seriously injured or killed.
- Work only with an undamaged AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1.
- Employ the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 only with an undamaged overload ring.
- If the overload ring is deformed or damaged: Do not use the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 and replace the overload ring.
- Always work with an undamaged carabiner.
- If the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 is dirty: Clean the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1.
- Do not modify the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1.
- Never bridge the electrical contacts of the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 with metallic objects (short circuit).
- Never insert objects in any openings in the AP adapter.
- Never bridge the electrical contacts of the AP adapter with metallic objects (short circuit).
- Do not open the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1.
- Do not use the AP webbing sling adapter 2in-1 with carabiners without a manual locking mechanism.
- Mount the carabiner as described in this User Manual.
- Replace worn or damaged warning signs.
- If you are unsure: Contact a STIHL authorized dealer.
Battery
The battery is in a safe condition if the following points are observed:
- Battery is undamaged.
- The battery is clean and dry.
- Battery functions properly and has not been modified.

- A battery that is not in a safe condition cannot operate safely. Persons may be seriously injured.
- Never work with a damaged battery.
- Never attempt to charge a damaged or defective battery.
- If the battery is dirty: Clean the battery.
- If the battery is wet or damp: Allow the battery to dry.
- Never attempt to modify the battery.
- Never insert objects in the battery's openings.
- Never bridge the battery's contacts with metallic objects (short circuit).
- Do not open the battery.
- Replace worn or damaged labels.
- Fluid may leak from a damaged battery. If that liquid comes into contact with the skin or eyes, the skin or eyes may be irritated.
- Avoid contact with the liquid.
- If skin contact occurs: Wash affected areas of skin with plenty of water and soap.
- In the event of contact with eyes: Rinse eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and consult a doctor.
- A damaged or defective battery may smell unusual, emit smoke or burn. Persons may be seriously or fatally injured, and property may be damaged.
- If the battery smells unusual or emits smoke: do not use the battery and keep it away from combustible substances.
- If the battery catches fire: Attempt to extinguish the battery with a fire extinguisher or water.
Connecting cable and webbing sling
Contact with live components may occur for the following reasons:
- The connecting cable is damaged.
- The AP adapter is damaged.

- Contact with live parts may result in electric shock. This may result in serious or fatal injury to the user.
- Make sure that the connecting cable and the AP adapter are undamaged.
- A carelessly installed connecting cable or webbing sling may become damaged and cause others to trip or fall. People can be injured, and the connecting cable or the webbing sling can become damaged.
- Position the connecting cable and the webbing sling so that the tool of the STIHL tree care chainsaw cannot touch the connecting cable or the webbing sling.
- Position the connecting cable so that it cannot be kinked or damaged.
- If the connecting cable or the webbing sling is twisted: Straighten out the connecting cable or the webbing sling.
Working

- In certain situations, the user may no longer be able to concentrate on their work. This may result in the user stumbling, falling and suffering serious injury.
- Work calmly and methodically.
- If light conditions and visibility are poor: Do not work with the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1.
- Watch out for obstacles.
- Use a suitable fall protection.
- If you start feeling fatigue: Take a break.
- When you are working in a tree, the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 may fall to the ground. This may result in serious injury to people and damage to property.
- Secure the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 by means of the overload ring using a carabiner with a manual locking mechanism. Suitable accessories are available from authorized dealers.
- Using incorrect or unsuitable carabiners may fail to properly secure the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 in the event of a fall. Persons may be seriously or fatally injured, and property may be damaged.
- Always use carabiners with a breaking load of more than 1.5 kN. Suitable accessories are available from authorized dealers.
- If you notice any change in the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 during operation, if it behaves unusually or if there is a quick succession of short beeps, the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 may be in an unsafe condition. This may result in serious injury to people and damage to property.
- Stop working, remove the battery and contact a STIHL authorized dealer.
- In an emergency, the user may panic and fail to dismantle the AP webbing sling adapter 2in-1. This may result in serious injury to the user.
- Stop working, switch off the STIHL tree care chainsaw and secure the climbing harness.
- Open the carabiner on the climbing harness and release the battery pouch and battery.
- Practice the dismantling of the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1.
Transporting
AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1

- The AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 may tip over or shift during transport. People may be injured or property may be damaged.
- Remove the AP adapter out of the battery compartment of the STIHL tree care chainsaw.
- Remove the battery.
- Secure the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 with tension belts, straps or a net to prevent it from turning over and moving.
Battery

- The battery is not protected against all ambient conditions. The battery may be damaged if it is exposed to certain ambient conditions, and damage to property may occur.
- Never transport a damaged battery.
- The battery may turn over or shift during transport. This may result in injury to people and damage to property.
- Pack the battery in packaging in such a way that it cannot move.
- Secure the packaging so that it cannot move.
Storing

- Remove the battery.
- Store the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 out of the reach of children.
- The electrical contacts on the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 can corrode if they are damp. The AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 may become damaged.
- Remove the battery.
- Store the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 in clean and dry conditions.
- Do not use the connecting cable or the webbing sling for carrying or suspending the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1. The connecting cable and the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 may become damaged.
- Roll up the connecting cable and the webbing sling in a loop and secure them with the tension belt.

- The battery is not protected against all ambient conditions. If the battery is exposed to certain ambient conditions, the battery may be irreparably damaged.

- Store the battery in an enclosed space.
- Store the battery separately from the product.
- If the battery is stored in the charger, disconnect the mains plug and store the battery at a state of charge between 40% and 60% (2 lit green LEDs).
- Do not store the battery outside of the specified temperature limits.
Cleaning, maintenance and repair

- Harsh detergents, cleaning with a water jet or sharp objects can damage the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 or the battery. If the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 or the battery is not cleaned correctly, components may no longer function properly or safety devices may be rendered inoperative. People may suffer serious injuries as a result.
- Clean the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 and the battery as described in this User Manual.
- If the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1, the overload ring or the battery is not serviced or repaired correctly, components may no longer function properly or safety devices may be rendered inoperative. Persons may be seriously injured or killed.
- Do not attempt to service or repair the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 or the battery yourself.
- If the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 or the battery needs to be serviced or repaired: contact your STIHL authorized dealer for assistance.
- Service or repair the overload ring as described in this User Manual.
Preparing the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 for operation
The following steps must be performed before commencing work:
- Check the battery.
- Fully charge the battery as described in the User Manual for STIHL AL 101, 301, 301-4, 500 and 501 chargers.
- Clean the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1.
- Ensure that the following components are in a safe condition:
- AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1.
- Overload ring.
- Battery.
- If you cannot carry out these steps: Do not use the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 and instead contact a STIHL authorized dealer for assistance.
Connecting a battery with Bluetooth® radio interface with the STIHL connected app
- Activate the Bluetooth® radio interface on the mobile device.
- Activating the Bluetooth® radio interface on the battery.
- Download the STIHL connected app to the mobile device from the App Store and create an account.
- Open and sign in to the STIHL connected app.
- Add the battery in the STIHL connected app and follow the instructions on the screen.

Displaying State of Charge, LEDs and Signals
Displaying the charge level

- Press the button (1).
The LEDs light up green for about 5 seconds and indicate the state of charge. - If the LED on the right flashes green: Charge the battery.
LEDs on Battery
The LEDs can show the state of charge or malfunctions. The LEDs can glow or flash green or red.
The state of charge is indicated when the LEDs glow or flash green.
- If the LEDs glow or flash red: Troubleshooting.
There is a malfunction in the cordless product or battery.
Beeps
The beeps can confirm contact between the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 and the battery or indicate malfunctions.
A short beep indicates that the battery is properly seated in the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1. The AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 is ready for use.
A short beep also sounds when the STIHL tree care chainsaw is switched on again after a work break of about 10 minutes.
- If short beeps sound in quick succession: Troubleshooting.
AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 fault, battery fault or STIHL tree care chainsaw fault.
Activating and Deactivating Bluetooth® Radio Interface
Activating the Bluetooth® Radio Interface
- If the battery has a Bluetooth® radio interface: Press and hold the pushbutton until the "BLUETOOTH®" LED next to the
symbol lights up blue for approximately 3 seconds.
The Bluetooth® radio interface on the battery is activated.
Deactivating the Bluetooth® Radio Interface
- If the battery has a Bluetooth® radio interface: Press and hold the pushbutton until the "BLUETOOTH®" LED next to the
symbol lights up blue six times.
The Bluetooth® radio interface on the battery is deactivated.
Reset battery to the factory setting via a Bluetooth® radio interface (AP 200.0 S, 300 S, 300.0 S, 500.0 S only)
Resetting the battery to the factory setting means that all user-specific data will be deleted.
- Press the pushbutton four (4) times in quick succession and keep it pressed on the fourth time until the "BLUETOOTH®" LED next to the
symbol flashes blue. - Then release the pushbutton immediately.
- Connect the battery to the STIHL connected app and check whether all user-specific data has been deleted.
Installing the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1
The AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 may only be used in connection with carabiners with a manual locking mechanism and which has a breaking load of more than 1.5 kN. Suitable accessories are available from authorized dealers.

- Check the overload ring (1) for deformation or damage.
- If the overload ring is deformed or damaged:
Do not use the webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 and replace the overload ring.
- Attach the carabiner (2) to the climbing harness.
- Attach the overload ring (3) in the carabiner to the climbing harness.
- Lock the carabiner.
- Push the battery (4) as far as it will go in the belt pouch (5). A short beep will sound.
- Secure the battery with the tension belt (6) and close the locking mechanism.

- Attach the carabiner (7) to the webbing sling (8).
- Hook the carabiner into the ring (9) of the STIHL tree care chainsaw.
- Lock the carabiner.
Removing the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1
- Switch off the STIHL tree care chainsaw.
- Remove the AP adapter out of the battery compartment of the STIHL tree care chainsaw.
- Unlock, open and unhook the carabiner on the STIHL tree care chainsaw (8).
- Remove the battery.
- Unlock and open the carabiner on the climbing harness, and remove and lift off the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 by the handle.

- Insert the AP adapter (1) in the battery compartment (2) of the STIHL tree care chainsaw.
Disconnecting the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1
- Switch off the STIHL tree care chainsaw.
- Remove the AP adapter out of the battery compartment of the STIHL tree care chainsaw.
- Remove the battery.
Testing the Battery
- Press button on battery. The LEDs glow or flash.
- If the LEDs do not glow or flash: Do not use the battery and contact your STIHL servicing dealer.
There is a malfunction in the battery.
After Finishing Work
- Switch off the STIHL tree care chainsaw.
- Remove the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1.
- Remove the battery.
- If the battery is moist or wet: Allow the battery to dry.
- Clean the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1.
- Clean the battery.
Transporting
Transporting the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1
- Switch off the STIHL tree care chainsaw.
- Remove the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1.
- Remove the battery.
- Push the AP adapter as far as it will go in the belt pouch.
Carrying the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1
- Carry the battery pouch by its handle with one hand.

- Transport the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 using the overload ring (1).
Transporting the battery
- Remove the battery.
- Check that the battery is in a safe condition.
- Pack the battery in packaging in such a way that it cannot move inside the packaging.
- Secure the packaging so that it cannot move.
The battery is subject to the Carriage of Dangerous Goods regulations. The battery is classified as UN 3480 (lithium ion batteries) and has been tested pursuant to UN Manual Tests and Criteria Part III, Subsection 38.3.
Storing
Storing the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1
- Switch off the STIHL tree care chainsaw.
- Remove the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1.
- Remove the battery.
- Roll up the protective sheath (1) in a loop and secure it with the tension belt (2).
- The AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 should be stored in such a way that the following conditions are met:
- The AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 is out of the reach of children.
- The AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 is clean and dry.
- The AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 is not hanging from the connecting cable or the webbing sling.
Storing the battery
STIHL recommends keeping the battery in a charging state between 40% and 60% (2 lit green LEDs).
- The battery should be stored in such a way that the following conditions are fulfilled:
- The battery is out of the reach of children.
- The battery is clean and dry.
- The battery is in an enclosed space.
- The battery is stored separately from the product.
- If the battery is stored in the charger, disconnect the mains plug and store the battery at a state of charge between 40% and 60% (2 lit green LEDs).
- Do not store the battery outside of the specified temperature limits.
NOTICE
- If the battery is not stored as described in this user manual, the battery may become deeply discharged and irreparably damaged.
- Charge a discharged battery before storing it. STIHL recommends storing the battery in a state of charge between 40% and 60% (2 lit green LEDs).
- Store the battery separately from the product.
Cleaning
Cleaning the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1
- Switch off the STIHL tree care chainsaw.
- Remove the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1.
- Remove the battery.
- Clean the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 with a damp cloth.
- Remove any foreign objects from the battery pouch, and clean the battery pouch with a damp cloth.
- Use a paintbrush or soft brush to clean the electrical contacts in the battery pouch.
Cleaning the Battery
- Clean the battery with a damp cloth.
Maintenance
Maintenance intervals
Maintenance intervals depend on the ambient conditions and the operating conditions. STIHL recommends the following maintenance intervals:
Before each use:
Replacing the overload ring
Replace a deformed or damaged overload ring. Only use original STIHL spare parts.

- Remove the screw (1).
- Remove the handle (2).
- Pull the barrier bar (3) down and pull the deformed or damaged overload ring (4) upward.
- Refrain from using the deformed or damaged overload ring and screw and dispose of them.
- Insert the overload ring (5) with the narrow side facing down.
- Allow the barrier bar to spring back.
- Insert the handle.
- Screw in and securely tighten the screw (6).
- If you are unsure: Contact a STIHL authorized dealer.
Repairing
Repairing the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 or the battery
The AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 or the battery cannot be repaired by the user.
- If the overload ring is deformed or damaged: Do not use the webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 and replace the overload ring.
- If the connecting cable, the webbing sling or the protective sheath is faulty or damaged: Have the connecting cable, the webbing sling or the protective sheath replaced by a STIHL authorized dealer.
- If the battery pouch or the AP adapter is faulty or damaged: Have the battery pouch or the AP adapter replaced by a STIHL authorized dealer.
- If the battery is defective or damaged: Replace the battery.
Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting the STIHL tree care chainsaw, the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 or the battery

- If 3 LEDs continue to flash red: Contact your STIHL authorized dealer for assistance.

3 LEDs light up red. | The STIHL tree care chainsaw is too hot. | - Remove the battery.
- Allow the STIHL tree care chainsaw to cool down.

- Switch on the STIHL tree care chainsaw.
- If 4 LEDs continue to flash red and short beeps sound in quick succession: Do not use the battery and contact your STIHL authorized dealer for assistance.

- The battery is not protected against all ambient conditions. If the battery is exposed to certain environmental conditions, it may catch fire or explode. This may result in serious injury to people and damage to property.
- Do not use the AP webbing sling adapter 2in-1 or the battery at temperatures below -20°C or above 50°C.
- Do not store the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 or the battery at temperatures below -20°C or above 50°C.
Recommended temperature ranges
For optimum performance of the AP webbing sling adapter 2-in-1 and the battery observe the following temperature ranges:
- Use: -10°C to 40°C
- Storage: -20°C to 50°C
If the battery is charged, used or stored outside the recommended temperature ranges, performance may be restricted.
If the battery is wet or moist, allow the battery to dry for at least 48 h between 15°C and 50°C and with less than 70% humidity. Higher humidity levels may extend the drying time.
