an electrical power supply can result in serious injury or death. Only individuals with knowledge
and training in working with devices that contain live circuits should operate the system. Take
precautions when performing all other types of maintenance.
No tools are needed to complete this task. Do not remove or loosen any screws.
Use the following replacement parts to service a faulty PSU in an IBM Storage Scale System 6000
enclosure:
• PN: 03JN180 - PSU
• PN: 02CM200 - Environmental notice CD.
An IBM Storage Scale System 6000 (MTM 5149-F48) is powered by four high-efficiency, hot-swappable
PSUs that are installed in the right and left sides at the rear of the enclosure, as shown in the following
figure.

Note: To complete this service procedure, go to the rear side of the enclosure to remove the faulty PSU.
Refer to the following steps to remove and replace a faulty PSU.
1. Confirm the faulty PSU location based on the fault LED.
Each MTM 5149-F48 enclosure has four PSUs, which are visible from the rear of the enclosure, as
shown in the next figure.

Identify the faulty PSU based on the PSU amber fault LED. The following figure indicates which amber
LED is on when a PSU is reporting fault status.
