Adjusting spring preload

Remove the seat (

Remove on-board toolkit 1.

Your motorcycle's hand-
ling will suffer if you do not
match the spring-preload and
damping-characteristic settings.
Adjust the damping characteristic
to suit spring preload.
If you want to increase spring
preload, use the tool from the
on-board toolkit to turn knob 2
clockwise.
If you want to reduce spring
preload, use the tool from the
on-board toolkit to turn knob 2
counter-clockwise.
Basic setting of spring
preload, rear
Turn adjusting screw as far
as it will go counter-clock-
wise, then back it off 12
clicks. (Full load of fuel, with
rider 85 kg)
with lowered suspension
Turn adjusting screw as
far as it will go counter-
clockwise, then back it off
4 clicks. (Full load of fuel,
with rider 85 kg)
Stow the on-board toolkit in its
correct position.
