BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange Performance Benchmarking
When measuring the BlackBerry user experience, consider the average number of messages queued for delivery
and the rate at which the BlackBerry Enterprise Server processes messages. Additional bandwidth might be
required to handle BlackBerry Enterprise Server traffic. In a real-world environment, having messages queued for
delivery is not unusual because users move inside and outside of wireless coverage areas and wireless network
delays occur.

Performance impact considerations

Perform the following actions when administering the BlackBerry Enterprise Server hardware:
Verify that the BlackBerry Enterprise Server hardware can handle increases in processor time use. Make sure
that the BlackBerry Enterprise Server is not running at more than 75 % processor time on average, which is
the maximum threshold.
Verify that enough physical memory is available on the system by monitoring committed bytes and available
bytes. If available memory is low, increase the amount of memory in the system. If committed bytes are
reaching the physical memory limit, increase the amount of memory in the system. Also, if the number of
pages each second is high, there might not be enough memory in the system and paging to disk might impact
performance.
Verify that enough network bandwidth is available to handle the traffic that is generated by the BlackBerry
Enterprise Server. Based on the performance testing, a minimum of 6 Mbps of network bandwidth is required
if all BlackBerry Enterprise Server features are enabled for 2000 user accounts (not including the BlackBerry
