  • Page 17 CDS G3 Updates Minor releases are provided at no charge during the active subscription terms of a major release. Mercury Marine will make every effort possible to make each of these releases available directly through the CDS G3 application from the Home screen.
  • Page 18 Section 2 - Licensing and Registration 5‑Day Account Validation Extension The 5‑day account validation extension feature was added to address those situations where CDS G3 users have forgotten to revalidate the software before the 45‑day revalidation period has expired. Selecting the "Extend 5 Days" button will allow fully functional use of the CDS G3 without revalidation or connecting to the internet for five additional days.

  • Page 21 Section 3 - Hardware and Connections IMPORTANT: Ensure that the correct terminator resistors are installed on both ends of the CAN P bus. The CAN P bus must be properly terminated for the tool to communicate reliably. Improper termination will result in communication errors or complete loss of communication.

  • Page 24 Remote Support Mercury CDS G3 now allows Mercury Technical Service call center agents to provide interactive remote support when diagnosing engine problems. Remote support allows the call center agent to see the same screens that a technician in the field sees during CDS G3 diagnostic sessions.

  • Page 27 Section 5 - Becoming Familiar with the CDS G3 Program License Activation Screen The License Activation screen will be presented on any CDS G3 installation that has not been activated. This screen is also displayed when the 45 day revalidation period expires.
  • Page 28 Section 5 - Becoming Familiar with the CDS G3 Program Module Data Screen The Module Data screen allows the user to view data and engine faults. The selections in Module Data include: • Play Data: Allows the user to open a recorded file (.bdr) from a previously recorded session and play back the data in raw format.

Also on the left are + and – buttons to zoom in and out. The focus point of zoom is the middle of the graph. It is best practice to pan the graph to the desired area before zooming.

The information is presented in a matrix format that is configured in a manner that displays information relative to the back of a boat. Example: starboard on the right and port on the left.

Trackpad Configuration displays the current trackpad configuration status of all helms, as well as information related to each trackpad.

This is the recommended path for completing the compass configuration process.

Sometimes referred to as the trailer range. There is a default limit so the engine/drive will tilt to the maximum tilt level. A tilt limit can be set with CDS G3 to restrict the tilt limit to a lower level.

  • Page 43 Section 5 - Becoming Familiar with the CDS G3 Program Set Trim Limit: This feature allows adjustment of the upper limit the drive can travel while under power. Because this is a configuration feature, and not a test, this procedure will eventually be moved to the Configuration section.

This drives either an Analog Gauge Interface (AGI) or an SC100 System Link gauge. When Tach Link is enabled the gray tachometer lead does not output the analog tach signal.

The behavior of this test on a running engine will depend on the engine coolant temperature and idle control calibration in the ECM.

  • Page 76 Section 7 - Appendix SmartCraft Interface Driver Installation In versions prior to 1.4, we have noticed a high number of issues with the SmartCraft interface cable not working after a new installation. In version 1.4, we have addressed several issues to improve this process. If you experience a suspected driver issue, the key indicator is the green power LED on the SmartCraft interface cable is flashing.
