Safety instructions explained

This symbol warns against the risk of injury.

warning Note
Details identified by the word "Note"
contain additional information.

Installation, commissioning, inspection, maintenance and repairs must only be carried out by an authorised, competent person (heating engineer/installation contractor).

Before working on the appliance/heating system, isolate it from the power supply (e.g. by removing a separate mains fuse or by means of a mains isolator) and safeguard against unauthorised re-connection.

When using gas as fuel, also close the main gas shut-off valve and safeguard against unintentional reopening.

Check for gas tightness after installation.

Wear suitable personal protective equipment when carrying out any work.

Repairing components that fulfill a safety function can compromise the safe operation of the system. For replacements, use only original spare parts supplied or approved by Viessmann.
Install the components with new gaskets.

Application

Gas solenoid valve with 20 V operating voltage:

  • Vitodens 200, type WB2
  • Vitodens 222, type WS2

Gas solenoid valve with 230 V operating voltage:

  • Vitodens 300, type WB3A
  • Vitodens 333, type WS3A

Replacing the gas solenoid valve

warning Note
The new gas solenoid valve is not provided with a gas restrictor. Remove the gas restrictor from the gas solenoid valve being replaced or from the conversion kit and install it in the new gas solenoid valve.

Replacing the gas solenoid valve

  1. Remove front panel and cover.
  2. Disconnect cables from gas solenoid valve and differential pressure sensor .
  3. Remove differential pressure sensor and (if installed) differential pressure sensor adaptor from gas solenoid valve by pulling them upwards.
  4. Undo the two screws from inlet-side flange .
  5. Undo the three screws from gas solenoid valve .
  6. Remove gas solenoid valve by pulling it forwards.
  7. Undo gas restrictor retainer from old gas solenoid valve , remove gas restrictor and insert in gas restrictor retainer on new gas solenoid valve .
  8. Only for Vitodens 300 to 35 kW and Vitodens 333:
Undo connection adaptor from new gas solenoid valve and fit new differential pressure sensor adaptor to new gas solenoid valve .
  9. Check whether the O-rings have been inserted into the openings of connection adaptor or differential pressure sensor adaptor .
  10. Connect differential pressure sensor to new gas solenoid valve (click into place).
  11. Check whether the gasket on the outlet side is fitted to new gas solenoid valve .
  12. Secure gas solenoid valve to the burner (torque 5 Nm).
  13. Fit flange (torque 5 Nm).
  14. Connect the cables to gas solenoid valve and differential pressure sensor .
  15. Start the boiler. Test the function.

Escaping gas leads to a risk of explosion.
Check all gas connections for leaks.
  16. Fit front panel and cover.
