  • Page 2 H3C recommends that you place a removed module in an antistatic bag or its original shipping materials. Cleaning the air filters The air filters of an S9500E switch fall into the following types: Chassis air filter—The chassis air filter is not shipped with the S9500E chassis by default. You can • order one as needed.
  • Page 3 Figure 1 Removing the rear chassis air filter of a S9505E-V chassis Cleaning the chassis air filters for other models An S9505E, S9508E, or S9512E has only one chassis air filter, which can be removed, cleaned, and installed in the same way. To clean a chassis air filter: Loosen the captive screws at both sides of the chassis air filter.
  • Page 4 Cleaning the air filter of a DC power supply Using your thumb and index finger to hold the upper and lower edges of the air filter frame, gently remove the air filter frame. Pull the black air filter out of the air filter frame. Figure 3 Removing the air filter of a DC power supply Use clean water to gently wash the air filer (do not rub the air filter), and air-dry it.
  • Page 5 Preparing for the replacement Put on an ESD-preventive wrist strap, and make sure the wrist strap makes good skin contact and is grounded. Make sure the power switch of the DC power supply or AC sub power supply is in the OFF position before removing them.

Gently move the sub power supply to separate it from the backplane of the power supply.
  • Page 7 (B) AC power supply to be installed Replacing a card Line processing units (LPUs) and main processing units (MPUs) for the S9500E switches are hot-swappable. Replacement procedures for these types of cards are similar. This section describes how to replace an MPU.
  • Page 8 Preparing for the replacement To prepare for the replacement: Put on an ESD-preventive wrist strap, and make sure the wrist strap makes good skin contact and is well grounded. Unpack the card to be installed. If the card has a protection cover, remove it first. Figure 7 Removing the protection cover NOTE: Keep the removed blank panel and protection cover properly for future use.
  • Page 9 Figure 8 Replacing a card Replacing a subcard CAUTION: When the switch is operating, do not remove or install a subcard on a base card that has not been removed. The subcards do not support hot swapping. Replace a subcard by using either of the following approaches: Power off the switch, and remove or install the subcard on the base card.

  • Page 13 After you execute the umount cf command, if you want to continue to use the CF card, execute the mount cf command in user view to load the CF card again. For more information about the umount and mount H3C S9500E Switch Series Fundamentals Command Reference commands, see Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the screw at the right side of the CF card cover, and pull the CF card cover outward.
  • Page 14 Replacing a transceiver module The replacement procedures of XFP, SFP+, and SFP transceiver modules are similar. This section takes an SFP transceiver module as an example. CAUTION: When installing or removing an SFP transceiver module, do not touch the golden finger of the SFP transceiver module.
