Getting Started

Getting Started

To set up your Mustang™ amplifier:

  1. Plug the supplied power cord into a grounded outlet.
  2. Plug in the stereo 4x12" speaker cabinet (Mustang V only).
  3. Plug your guitar into the INPUT jack.
  4. Press the POWER switch to turn the amplifier ON.
  5. Adjust the MASTER volume level.

MASTER volume is the only knob you need to adjust at first because the settings of all the other knobs are preprogrammed into each PRESET.

Selecting Presets

Turn the DATA WHEEL to select one of 100 presets.
Selecting Presets

You will find some presets you like and others that you want to change...

Each preset stores the settings for:

  • Amplifier type — 17 selections
  • Effects — 4 categories, 44 selections total
  • Knob levels — GAIN through REVERB (not MASTER)

To learn how to create your own presets, please download the Advanced Owner's Manual from https:// fuse.fender.com/mustangv2/support

Volume & Tone

The MASTER volume knob is always "active." That means the position of the MASTER volume knob always shows the true master volume setting, unlike the programmable knobs.

(Always turn the MASTER volume knob first to adjust the overall volume output of your Mustang amplifier.)

Programmable Knobs
Because the setting of every knob (except MASTER) is part of each preset, the "programmable" knobs are inactive and knob positions will NOT show their actual settings when each preset is first selected.

Programmable Knobs - Part 1

How do I activate a programmable knob? The moment you turn any programmable knob it instantly becomes active and it will remain active until you select a different preset, at which time all programmable knobs become inactive again.
Programmable Knobs - Part 2

Press the DATA WHEEL to see what the preset settings are for all the programmable knobs before you turn them. Press EXIT to return to Play mode.
Programmable Knobs - Part 3

As you navigate through the various screens, if you get lost, just press EXIT to return to Play mode.

Going Deeper

Customizing Presets
Your Mustang™ amplifier gives you the powerful ability to save every setting on the amplifier as part of a preset. When you select a preset, the level of each knob, every effect setting, and the amp model selection, are instantly recalled to your pre-programmed settings!

The SAVE button will light up red when you turn any programmable knob or edit any other setting on the amp. This indicates that you have temporarily modified capabilities which can be combined for remote six-button the preset. You can undo your modifications by turning the DATA WHEEL to a different preset and then back again.

Software and Accessories
So far we have only scratched the surface of your Mustang's features. Plus, there are custom software applications for your PC or Mac.

For example, Fender® FUSE™ expands the potential of your amp enormously. Fender FUSE is a preset editor that provides easy on-screen parameter control, and the ability to customize your Mustang with deeper editing than what can be done with the amp alone.

And that's not all! There is also Ableton® Live Lite 8 Fender® edition, which turns your Mustang and computer into a multi-track recording studio. Then there's Fender Amplitube™ software for exploring the wide world of Fender amplifier tone through your computer.

Software for your Mustang amplifier is available, free of charge, at: http://fuse.fender.com/

Don't forget you also have two- and four-button footswitch capabilities which can be combined for remote six-button multi-function foot control.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

shock hazard The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated "dangerous voltage" within the product's enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons.

warning The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of important operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the literature accompanying the product.

  1. Read these instructions.
  2. Keep these instructions.
  3. Heed all warnings.
  4. Follow all instructions.
  5. Do not use this apparatus near water.
  6. Clean only with dry cloth.
  7. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
  8. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
  9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong are provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
  10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
  11. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
  12. Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified by the manufacturer or sold with the apparatus. When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/ apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.
  13. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.
  14. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.
  15. To completely disconnect this apparatus from the AC mains, disconnect the power supply cord plug from the AC receptacle.

  18. Do not expose this equipment to dripping or splashing and ensure that no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, are placed on the equipment.
  19. Maintain at least 6 inches (15.25 cm) of unobstructed air space behind the unit to allow for proper ventilation and cooling of the unit.

  20. For rack mounted power amplifiers, keep all wiring and materials away from the sides of the unit and allow the unit to cool down for 2 minutes before pulling from a rack enclosure.
  21. Amplifiers and loudspeaker systems, and ear/headphones (if equipped) are capable of producing very high sound pressure levels which may cause temporary or permanent hearing damage. Use care when setting and adjusting volume levels during use.

  22. To maintain product safety, products with internal or external (battery pack) batteries:
  • Batteries and/or the product in which they are installed, shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like.
  • There may be a danger of explosion if the battery is incorrectly connected/ replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type battery specified in the instructions or on the product.

  1. Unplug unit and allow it to cool before touching/ replacing vacuum tubes.

  2. Provide an earthing connection before the mains plug is connected to the mains. And, when disconnecting the earthing connection, be sure to disconnect after pulling out the mains plug from the mains.
