    Warning and Caution in this chapter and strictly abide by them. Warning BYD strongly reminds drivers and passengers to fasten seat belts at all times to ensure personal safety. Otherwise, the possibility of injury in accidents is increased.

    Warm Tip If the above functions are abnormal or fail, contact a BYD authorized service provider immediately. Do not use the corresponding seats until the functions return to normal.
  • Page 21 1-1 Seat Belt ④ Adjust the seat belt height adjuster (front seats) to a proper position to obtain the maximum comfort and protection. The seat belt provides the optimum protection when it is positioned across the center of the shoulder. The seat belt should not contact the neck or slide off the shoulder.
  • Page 22 Do not remove, disassemble or modify the seat belt arbitrarily. It is recommended to drive the vehicle to a BYD authorized service provider for inspection of the seat belt after an accident. If the pre-tensioner function of a seat belt is activated, be sure to replace the seat belt.

    Do not allow any child to sit on the front seat. Warm Tip When the vehicle is travelling, please always use the seat belt. It is recommended to use genuine seat covers of BYD. Non-genuine seat covers may affect airbag performance or cause accidental injuries to passengers.

    1-2 Airbag Driver and Front Passenger Airbags The vehicle is equipped with a driver airbag and a front passenger airbag. When the airbag system electronic control unit (ECU) detects a moderate to severe frontal impact while driving and the airbag deploying conditions are met, the airbags will deploy to assist in protecting the heads and chests of both the driver and the front passenger to reduce the severity of injuries.

    1-2 Airbag During driving, when the airbag system ECU feels a moderate to severe side impact and the airbag deploying conditions are met, the airbag will deploy to assist in protecting the passenger's head to reduce the severity of injury. Any change to the suspension, tyre size, bumper, chassis and original equipment adversely affects the airbag system.
  • Page 32 After a collision, although the airbag module is not deployed and the pre-tensioner seat belt is not locked, the airbag computer is encrypted to protect the passengers from high-voltage. In this case, contact a BYD authorized service provider for inspection.
  • Page 33 1-2 Airbag Warm Tip (Continued) When scrapping any component of the vehicle or the airbag system, please follow relevant safety regulations and scrapping procedures. For a driver, the distance between the chest and the steering wheel shall be at least 25 cm, so as to provide the most effective protection for the driver when the system is deployed.

    Warm Tip BYD strongly recommends that you use a child restraint system. Studies have shown that installing a child restraint system on the rear seats is safer than installing it on the front seats.

(A label indicating the anchorage position is affixed on the seat.) The rear outboard seats are provided with fixing anchor supports (for top tethering).
