Epilation tips
Cleaning the epilation head
After use, turn off the appliance and clean the epilation head: Remove the cap (1, 7). Brush out the tweezers while turning the tweezer element manually. Press the release button (5) to take off the epilation head. Gently tap it to remove hairs from inside the head.
If a thorough clean is needed (e.g. after a wet usage with gel), hold the epilation head under hot running water. Shake off remaining water and re-attach in dry condition.
General information on epilation
All methods of hair removal from the root can lead to in-grown hairs and irritation (e.g. itching, discomfort or reddening of the skin), depending on the condition of the skin and hair. This is a normal reaction and should quickly disappear, but may be stronger when you are removing hair from the root for the first few times or if you have sensitive skin.
If after 36 hours the skin still shows irritation, we recommend that you contact your physician.
In general, the skin reaction and the sensation of pain tend to diminish considerably with repeated use of Silk·épil. In some cases inflammation of the skin could occur when bacteria penetrate the skin (e.g. when sliding the appliance over the skin). Thorough cleaning of the epilation head before each use will minimize the risk of infection.
If you have any doubts about using this appliance, please consult your physician. In the following cases, this appliance should only be used after prior consultation with a physician: eczema, wounds, inflamed skin reactions such as folliculitis (purulent hair follicles), varicose veins, around moles, reduced immunity of the skin, e.g. diabetes mellitus, during pregnancy, Raynaud's disease, haemophilia, immune deficiency or candida.
The shaver head (8) is designed for a fast and close shave of legs, underarms and bikini line, contour trimming and cutting hair to 5 mm length. Use the shaver head only on dry skin and with speed 2. Do not shave with a damaged foil.
The exfoliation brush (9) helps avoid ingrown hair by removing dead skin cells. It also improves epilating results when used 1-2 days before epilation. The massage pad (10) helps improve the skin appearance.
You may use the exfoliation brush/massage pad on a weekly basis on wet skin during your shower routine with body scrub or shower gel. The massage pad may even be used more frequently with body lotion or massage oil.
When using the appliance in a bathtub, do not immerse it fully in water since this will not provide optimum results.
Attach the brush adapter (11) provided with brush (9). Slowly guide the appliance in a circular motion over your skin to gently refine it. Avoid holding it on the same skin area for prolonged time. Do not use it on your face.
After use, rinse the brush under running water. If needed, you may use some liquid soap for more thorough clean. The silicone cap on the massage pad (10) needs to be removed to make sure there is no more water left inside. Before storing the exfoliation brush, attach the protective cap.
With weekly use, we recommend replacing the brush after 12 months.
Before using the appliance, please read the usage instructions carefully and keep them for future reference.
