    PREPARATIONS POWER SUPPLY USING ON AC HOUSE CURRENT Connect the AC cord as illustrated below. 1 to the AC inlet of the unit AC cord (supplied) The OPE/BATT indicator lights up while the power is on. CAUTION Use only the supplied AC cord. Use with other cords may result in the risk of fire.

    BEFORE OPERATION To turn the unit on Press one of the function buttons (TAPE/REV MODE, TUNER/BAND, CD). Playback of the inserted disc or tape begins, or the previously tuned station is received (Direct Play Function). The POWER button is also available. Pressing the z CD OPEN button turns the unit on as well.

    SOUND ADJUSTING THE SOUND VOLUME CONTROL Turn the VOLUME/TIMER control on the main unit or press the VOLUME buttons on the remote control. The volume level is displayed as a number from 0 to MAX (31). The volume level is automatically set to 21 if the power is turned off when the volume level is set to 22 or more.

    TAPE PLAYBACK TAPE OPERATIONS INSERTING A TAPE Use Type I (normal) tapes only. Press the TAPE/REV MODE button (or the TAPE button on the remote control) and press the OPEN mark to open the cassette holder. Insert a tape with the exposed side facing forward. Push the cassette holder to close.

    RADIO RECEPTION MANUAL TUNING Press the TUNER/BAND button repeatedly to select the desired band. If the power is turned off, the previously tuned station will be played (Direct Play Function). Press the f or g button to select a station. Each time the button is pressed, the frequency changes.

    PRESETTING STATIONS You can preset up to 15 stations in each band. When a station is stored, a preset number is assigned to the station. Use the preset number to tune in to a preset station directly. Press the TUNER/BAND button to select a band. Then, press the f or g button to select a station.

    CD PLAYING CD OPERATIONS LOADING A DISC Press the CD button, press the CD OPEN button to open the disc compartment, and load a disc with a label side up. Then press the CD OPEN button again to close the disc compartment.

    RANDOM PLAY All the tracks on the disc can be played randomly. In stop mode, press the MODE button on the remote control repeatedly until RANDOM lights up on the display. Press the c (d) button to start play. To cancel the random play Press the MODE button twice in stop mode.

    RECORDING RECORDING This section explains how to record from the radio or CD player. Preparation • Set the tape to the point where recording will start. • Use Type I (normal) tapes only. Insert the tape to be recorded. Insert the tape with the side to be recorded on facing up and the exposed side facing forward.

    TIMER TIMER PLAY/TIMER RECORDING The unit can be turned on at a specified time every day with the built-in timer. Preparation Make sure the clock is set correctly. Press the TIMER button once for timer play so that 5 flashes. Press the TIMER button twice for timer recording so that 5 and REC flash.

    GENERAL CARE AND MAINTENANCE Occasional care and maintenance of the unit and the software are needed to optimize the performance of your unit. To clean the cabinet Use a soft and dry cloth. If the surfaces are extremely dirty, use a soft cloth lightly moistened with mild detergent solution.
