The Camera
There are quality and sound options for movies in the Shooting
Menu. To access these choices press the
selector to move down to the Shooting Menu. The Movie Settings are
at the bottom of the Shooting Menu.
You can choose whether to record sound during your movies.
Quality Options
All three settings record movies at 24 fps (frames per second).
1280 720: Highest quality, video proportion is 16:9
640 424: Moderate quality, video proportion is 3:2
320 216: Lower quality, video proportion is 3:2
Video Tips and Notes
Be careful not to cover the microphone on the front of the camera
while recording (located near the flash button).
Focus on your subject in live view before starting the recording.
Autofocus does not work while recording. However, you can still
manually focus.
When recording there's a countdown of the maximum time remaining
in the top right of the monitor.

utes. Movies taken at the other two quality settings can be up to
twenty minutes long.
The maximum size of movie files is 2GB. The movie will stop record-
ing if your memory card fills up.
Recorded movies appear in the playback mode along with your pho-
tos. Press the OK button to play them back.
Matrix metering is always used no matter what metering mode you
have selected.
You can lock the exposure by holding down the AE-L/AF-L button
while recording.
Exposure compensation can also be used if you are in P, S, A or M
exposure modes.
