MANUAL FOCUS

To use manual focus just flip the AF/M switch on the left side of
the camera.
In Manual Focus mode you control where the camera focuses by turn-
ing the focusing ring on the lens. If autofocus can't lock onto your
subject try using manual focus instead. Manual focus is also a bet-
ter choice for close-up or macro photography. When you are photo-
graphing something small it is important to be able to precisely place
your point of focus. Autofocus often won't " choose " the right place to
focus in these situations.
Using Manual Focus allowed me to carefully focus on the first group of water droplets.

FOCUS INDICATOR

In the viewfinder there is a very helpful symbol called the focus indi-
cator. It's a green circle on the far left of the viewfinder. This circle is
only visible when something is in focus. When you're using autofo-
cus the camera will beep and the circle will appear when the subject
is in focus. Even if the beep is turned off, the circle will still appear to
let you know your subject is in focus. If autofocus cannot lock onto
what's in the focus bracket the circle starts blinking.
The focus indicator can also be a big help in the Manual Focus mode.
You can use the indicator to check and make sure the most important
part of your subject is in focus. Use the multi selector to choose the
