Step 2 Use the format disk0: command to format the CompactFlash Disk as follows:

The new CompactFlash Disk is now formatted and ready to use in the system on which you formatted it.

Using the copy Command

To copy an image from a CompactFlash Disk to another file system or from another file system to the
CompactFlash Disk, use the copy command:
copy [tftp: | bootflash: | disk0:] source-filename [tftp: | bootflash: | disk0:] destination-filename

The file you want to copy is located in a file system (tftp:, bootflash:, and all of the other options).
The variable source-filename is the name of the file you want to copy to another file system (tftp:,
bootflash:).
The variable destination-filename is the name you want to apply to this file after it is copied.
You do not need to change the filename; this is an option.
You have a system processor with a CompactFlash Disk-compatible Cisco IOS software image in
the onboard Flash memory—called boot flash memory—so you can start the system.
Your system is running Cisco IOS Release 12.1(10)EX2 or later releases of 12.1EX, Cisco IOS
Release 12.2YZ, or Cisco IOS Release 12.2SZ or later. See Software Advisor for any future releases.
The bootable image you want to copy to the CompactFlash Disk exists in another file system or on
a TFTP server to which you have access (meaning you know its name and have connectivity to it),
and at least one interface is available over which you can access this server through Telnet. To ensure
access to a TFTP server, you need to configure at least one interface. To configure an interface, you
can use the setup command or use the configuration editor.
An Ethernet interface is used in the examples that follow.
You know the filename of the image you want to copy to the CompactFlash Disk.
