Required Equipment

To pressurize the housing, you need the following:
CAUTION!
Handle the tanks with care. Although nitrogen is an inert gas, the tank is highly pressurized
and if the valve or regulator is damaged, the tank could be dangerous.
Bosch Security Systems, Inc.
A tank of dry nitrogen
Nitrogen is a readily available gas; check your local yellow pages for a medical or
industrial gas provider. If the tank is to be carried from location to location, a size of 1
cubic meter (40 cubic feet) is recommended. This tank size should be enough to refill 30
individual housings. Tanks of dry nitrogen can be kept for several years
A regulator on the tank
A regulator for the tank is required, even though the tank is fitted with a standard 580
fitting. Recommended regulators for the tank are: Harris #9296-15-580 or #425-15-580.
For local distribution, contact Harris at 800-241-0804.
A hose with an air chuck to connect the regulator to the housing's fill valve
The Schrader fill valve, also called a dill valve, is similar to the air intake valve on car tires
or bicycle tires. To connect the regulator to the purge valve on the housing, you need a
hose with a 1/4-inch barb on one end and an air chuck on the other. The barb connects to
the regulator and the air chuck connects to the Schrader valve. You may obtain these
hoses at local auto parts stores.
A T25 pin-in Torx driver
This tool is required to tighten the eight (8) captive screws that secure the bubble to the
housing. A small pin-in Torx tool comes with the VG4 Pressurized Environmental Housing
module, but you may prefer to use a larger driver.
