Commissioning

Once configured appropriately, ensure that the VESDA-E IDNet detector can communicate with the FACP
without any faults. Disconnect the VESDA-E IDNet loop connection on the IDNet detector and verify that a
communication fault is triggered at the FACP if required. Once the above is verified, follow the commissioning
process described in the relevant conventional detector product guide. Refer to section 6 Appendix-1
Checklist Forms and Fault Mapping for the IDNet detector commissioning forms.
Once the VESDA-E IDNet detector is commissioned, it will report alarms and faults according to the
parameters defined during installation.
5.1

Commissioning Smoke Test and Alarm Reporting

It is essential that a commissioning smoke test be carried out to verify the integrity of the pipe network, in
addition to demonstrate that the system is working end to end and to measure the transport time to the
detector.
This test involves introducing a smoke sample at the furthest sampling hole and then measuring the time
taken for the smoke to travel to the detector. Results are logged and compared to subsequent tests to note
variations of the system.
Refer to the relevant commissioning guide and FACP documents for the details of how alarms are reported on
the FACP.
5.2

Troubleshooting

The VESDA-E IDNet detector faults are displayed on the FACP as decimal numbers 0 to 255, refer to section
6 Appendix-1 Checklist Forms and Fault Mapping for the Fault Mapping Table to understand the fault category
and use VSC / VSM4 software to further investigate the fault(s). Also refer to the troubleshooting section of
the equivalent conventional detector product guide for additional information.
