PLUS continues Brooks’ commitment to fire safety for the hearing impaired. The VISALERT PLUS is the next generation of Brooks’ visual alerting devices designed to wake a VISALERT sleeping occupant. Brooks recognises the need to alert a sleeping occupant but also recognises PLUS , now includes that once awake they need to make their way to a place of safety. -

• The VISALERT consumer mains supply powering the smoke alarms to which it is interconnected. PLUS is designed to suit a Brooks Easi-fit Base and be mounted on a ceiling. • The VISALERT The device must not be exposed to dripping or splashing. -

Terminating procedure is as follows: PLUS termination Figure 6 - VISALERT Routing the mains cable for the Easi-fit base As denoted in the left figure above, if the mains wires are recessed, bring the wires through the port on the rear side of the Easi-fit base. As denoted in the right figure above, If the mains wires are being brought along the surface or through a conduit, enter through the removable trunking door on the side of the Easi-fit base. -

Brooks recommend frequent testing of the system to ensure its continued and safe operation. PLUS : The following are guidelines for testing VISALERT • After the system is installed. • Once monthly thereafter. • After prolonged absence from the dwelling (e.g. after holiday period). - Page 26 Check the functioning of the mains battery back-up directly after installation and then at least yearly as follows: ➢ Turn off the mains power at the distribution board and check that the green indicator light is now flashing (1 flash every second) to indicate the Warning Device is on backup battery power.

PLUS has two flavours, flash (UL1971) for hearing impaired and steady (AS2293) The VISALERT to function as an emergency luminaire. Moving any dip switch to the STEADY function side will enable the emergency luminaire function.
