Areas of application The power supply is intended for use in electronic circuits, laboratories, educational institutions and development environ- ments. It is used to safely provide direct current for a variety of low-voltage applications. Required knowledge and skills Using the power supply requires basic knowledge of electrical engineering. Users should be able to safely assemble and ope- rate electrical circuits and take the necessary safety precautions.

Make sure the power supply is adequately ventilated during operation and monitor the temperature regularly. Caution: High temperatures can significantly shorten the lifespan of the power supply and connected devices. Note: Only operate the power supply within the recommended ambient temperatures (0°C to 40°C). Caution: Overheated components can cause fires. Note: Avoid use in direct sunlight or near heat sources.

LM2596S Introduction The AZ-Delivery LM2596S step-down module is a so-called buck converter or step-down converter. This DC-DC converter allows to regulate the input voltage down to a desired value by means of a trimpot. The output voltage is always lower than the input voltage.

LM2596S Measurement error correction function The voltmeter has a measurement error correction function. To enter the calibration mode press the button for more than 4 seconds and release. Now the IN LED lights up and the digital display flashes. With short presses of the switch you can now select a correction value for the input, the value range is -0.5V to 0.5V.

In our example we will power our microcontroller type 1 from AZ-Delivery, for this we use a 12V power supply with the LM2596S to step the voltage down to But before we connect the microcontroller to the step down converter, we first set the correct output voltage.
