MOUNTING THE DOVETAIL JIG TEMPLATE
NOTE: The jig with the included bits, cuts dovetails in wood 1/2"
to 3/4" thick.
Refer to Figure 1–3
1.
Make a 2-1/4" x 3-1/2" x 18" backing block to mount the
dovetail jig template.
• The backing block can be made from a solid piece of wood
or laminate.
• Make sure the backing block is machined 90° to the
dovetail jig template.
2.
On the pin side of the jig there is a scribe line running along
the bottom side. Turn the jig over and place the backing block
onto dovetail jig template, align the scribe line with the top
edge of the backing block and clamp into place.
3.
Drill through the four holes in the jig and attach the jig to the
backing block with the four screws and washers supplied.
IMPORTANT: Make sure the scribe line is lined up all the way
across the backing block.
Figure 1
If using screws to laminate the backing block, make sure the screws are 1" or
more of the backing block's edge. The router bit will cut into the top corners
of both backing block faces and could hit the screws. The top edges of the
backing block needs to be even and square with the faces. Joint if needed.
