Setup Guide IMPORTANT: Before using this product, make sure you read these instructions and the safety instructions in the online User’s Guide. Choosing a location for the printer Choose a location for the printer that is near a wall outlet where the power cord can be easily unplugged. Assembling the stand Make sure you have all of these items: 8 bolts (A) Hex wrench (a) 2 mounting brackets Horizontal strut Left side Right side Slide the horizontal strut into the sides of the stand. Use the hex wrench (a) to fasten each side of the bar with a bolt (A). Attaching the paper basket The paper basket is a cloth sheet that attaches to the printer stand and support bar and catches your prints without damaging them. You must attach the support bar to use the paper basket. - Page 12 Attach the clamps to the bottom of the printer. Note: Use these clamps to store the paper basket when it is not in use. See the online User’s Guide for more information on storing the paper basket. Fasten the plastic connectors to the ends of the paper basket pole. Completing setup and connecting the power cord Unlock the casters and move the printer to its final location. Lock the casters after moving the printer. Note: The casters are only meant for moving the printer a short distance over smooth surfaces. Remove any packing tape and plastic film from the exterior of the printer. -

Installing ink Press the power button to turn on the printer. Select the language, date, and time. When you see an initial ink charging message, press , then follow the instructions on the LCD screen. After you install all of the ink packs, the printer begins the initial ink charging and the power light flashes Note: The maintenance box needs to be replaced twice during the initial charging. -

Press and follow the instructions on the screen. How To... Aligning the printhead Align the printhead to ensure the best print quality. If banding appears in your prints, if they look grainy or blurry, or if you see misregistration or “ghosting,” you need to align the printhead. Although you can align the printhead using the printer utility software, aligning the printer from the control panel will quickly and automatically perform the most thorough alignment. -

Updating your printer firmware To keep your printer features and functionality up to date, you should periodically check for a new version of firmware on the Epson support site and update your printer, if necessary.
