INTRODUCTION This document provides instructions to install the Tellabs® OLT2 Optical Line Terminal (OLT2). The OLT2 is a self- contained and sealed unit, for mounting on a wall or in standard 19-in (48.3cm) size rack. This guide describes the 100−220 VAC powering, suggested mounting instructions and turn up and the initialization procedures for the OLT2.

Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Observe and follow all ESD instructions while handling Tellabs plug-in equipment. Caution! The Tellabs plug-in equipment uses semiconductor devices that can be damaged by electrostatic discharge (ESD). Do not remove a plug-in from a protective packing box or equipment rack until time of installation or replacement. To equalize the static charge on the plug-in, establish a body path to ground using an ESD wrist strap connected to a ESD ground.

1. Insert the 8 pin molex power cable into the power input socket at the back of the Tellabs OLT2. Note: The Tellabs OLT2 does not have a power on/off switch, as it is not intended to power down the shelf while it is in service.
OLT2 CONFIGURATION As shipped, the OLT2 is configured to facilitate quick and easy out of box setup and testing. This setup is designed to minimize the effort required to establish initial connectivity. Once connectivity to the OLT2 is established, it can be configured to conform to the current network deployment.

Connect via SSHv2 The OLT2 is shipped with the default IP address 192.168.0.10. When an SFP is installed into any uplink port, this IP address can be used to access the OLT CLI using an untagged SSHv2 connection. It is recommended that the default IP address be changed to avoid a conflict with the next unit turned up.

CLI. The goal of turnup is to initialize the system such that Panorama PON can be used to complete configuration. OLT is added to Panorama PON. Note: Remember that the OLT2 is initially configured so that, all uplinks are in the NET1 interface. Additionally, the first module installed will determine the uplink speed. Any ports with modules of the same speed will be enabled. If you installed more than one module, entering one (1) here (as shown in the example) will disable all ports except the first port matching the link speed of the first module installed.
