BEFORE OPERATION
Turning the power on and off
Press the cb/ON button. "HELLO" briefly appears on the display and the
STANDBY indicator goes out. (After connecting the mains lead, when you
press the cb/ON button for the first time, the volume-reset feature
automatically sets the initial volume level.)
To turn the power off, press the cb/ON button again. "GOOD-BYE" briefly
appears and the STANDBY indicator lights.
When the mains lead is connected to the AC outlet, the unit will
respond to commands from the remote control.
Ecology (low power consumption) standby mode
(Main unit oniy)
You can set the unit to the ecology standby mode.
First press the cb/ON button to turn the power off, then press the CLOCK/
ECO button to select the desired standby mode. Each time the button is
pressed, the display changes as follows.
Demonstration mode —^ Clock —^ Off (Ecology standby mode)
Demonstration or Clock mode (Ecology standby mode - off):
When turning the power off, the clock display remains lit. (If the
clock was not set, the display enters the demonstration mode.)
Off (Ecology standby mode - on):
When turning the power off, no display appears on the display.
Direct start function
If the following buttons are pressed when the unit is in standby, the unit
turns on automatically and the selected function is set.
DVD/CD section
► PLAY, OPEN/CLOSE
Tuner section
TUNER/BAND
Remote control
► PLAY, TUNER/BAND
Selecting the function
Press the FUNCTION button to select the desired function. Each time the
button is pressed, the display changes as follows:
DVD/CD — TUNER — AUX INI — AUX IN2 — DVD/CD — . . .
The function is automatically selected when disc play is started, or when
the TUNER/BAND button has been pressed.
When the function selection is changed, disc play is automatically
stopped.
Adjusting the volume
Turn the VOLUME control (or press the -i- or - VOLUME button on the
remote control). The volume level appears on the display (VOL 0 ~ VOL
MAX).
Pure active surround system
This newly developed surround system gives natural spread-out
atmosphere. Press the PASS SURROUND (or SURROUND on the
remote control) button to select the desired surround effect.
PASS OFF — PASS HI — PASS MID — PASS LOW — PASS OFF
Bass expander system
Press the BASS button to select the desired bass expander effect.
BASS OFF — BASS LOW — BASS MID — BASS HI — BASS OFF
Selecting the sound mode
Press the SOUND button to select the sound mode matching the source
to be listened to.
POP: Pops, etc.
CLASSIC: Classical music, etc.
JAZZ: Jazz, etc.
ACTION: Action, etc.
COMEDY: Comedy, etc.
SFX: Special effects, etc.
Adjusting the displays brightness
(Main unit only)
While pressing the ■ STOP button, press the TUNER/BAND button.
DIMMER 1 —^ DIMMER 2 —- DIMMER 0 (initial setting)
To turn off the blue lights, select "DIMMER 1" or "DIMMER 2".
WHAT TO DO IF...
If the operation of the unit or display is not normal,
1.
Disconnect the mains lead.
2.
Press the RESET button (bottom of the unit) for at least 30 seconds
as shown in figure.
ADJUSTING THE CLOCK
Example: To set "6:30" by using the remote control
1.
Press the cb/ON button to turn the power on.
2.
Press the SHIFT -i- CLOCK buttons. The clock display appears.
3.
PresstheSHIFT + ADJUSTbuttonswithin

10 seconds.
The hours display blinks.

Press the + or-TIME SET button to set the
"hours".
5.
Press the SHIFT + ADJUST buttons.
The minutes display blinks.

Press the + or-TIME SET button to set the
"minutes".

7.
Press the SHIFT + ADJUST buttons. The
clock starts.

The time can be set accurately by pressing the SHIFT + ADJUST
buttons when a time signal is heard.
To display the clock during operation
Press the CLOCK/ECO button. Press it again to return to the original
display.
When using the remote control, press the SHIFT + CLOCK buttons.
Note:
When the display blinks because of a power failure, reset the time.
Changing the clock to the 12-hour display (Main unit only)
1.
Press the cb/ON button to turn the power off. (If the clock is not
displayed, press the CLOCK/ECO button to display the clock.)
2.
While pressing the ■ STOP button, press the SOUND button.
Example: 13:00—^ PM 1:00
To return the original setting, repeat steps above.
