Function of Active Emergency Stop Assist
Active Emergency Stop Assist monitors the steer-
ing wheel and the accelerator and brake pedals. If
the system detects a lack of driver activity and the
vehicle threatens to leave its lane, a warning can
be issued and an emergency stop initiated.
Vehicles without Driving Assistance Package: The
system is available from a speed of approx.
37 mph (60 km/h).
Vehicles with Driving Assistance Package: If
Active Steering Assist is switched off, the system
is available from a speed of approx. 37 mph
(60 km/h).
If the vehicle is threatening to leave its lane, a
warning is issued in the following cases:
The driver does not touch the steering wheel
R
for an extended period of time or no steering
movement can be measured for an extended
period of time (depending on the vehicle
equipment).
Neither the accelerator nor the brake pedal is
R
Assist.
being depressed.

Vehicles with Driving Assistance Package: If
Active Steering Assist is switched on and
active, only the steering wheel is monitored by
the system. If the driver does not touch the
steering wheel for an extended period of time,
a warning may be given despite pedal actua-
tion.
