142 Driving and parking
You can carry out a maximum of two consecutive
starting attempts. You must start the vehicle with
the key before trying to start the vehicle again
with the smartphone.
You can switch off the vehicle at any time as fol-
lows:
Via the smartphone app
R
By pressing the Ü or s button on the
R
key
%
Further information can be found in the
smartphone app.
Securing the engine against starting before carry-
ing out maintenance or repair work:
Switch on the hazard warning light system or
#
unlock the doors.
Breaking-in notes
To preserve the engine during the first 1000 miles
(1500 km):
drive at varying road speeds and engine
R
speeds.
No faster than 85 mph (140 km/h).
R
allow the engine to reach a maximum engine
R
speed of 4500 rpm (4500 rpm) only briefly.
drive the vehicle in drive program A.
R
Shift to the next higher gear when the needle
R
reaches the last third before the red area on
the rev counter at the very latest.
Do not shift down manually in order to brake.
R
Avoid overstraining the vehicle, e.g. driving at
R
full throttle.
Do not depress the accelerator pedal past the
R
pressure point (kickdown).
increase the engine speed only gradually and
R
accelerate the vehicle to full speed after
1000 miles (1500 km).
This also applies when the engine or parts of the
drivetrain have been replaced.
Please also observe the following breaking-in
notes:
In certain handling and driving safety systems,
R
the sensors adjust automatically while a cer-
tain distance is being driven after the vehicle
has been delivered or after repairs. Full sys-
tem effectiveness is reached only when this
teaching-in process has concluded.
Brake linings, brake disks and tires that are
R
either new or have been replaced achieve opti-
mum braking effect and grip only after several
hundred kilometers. Compensate the reduced
braking effect by applying greater force to the
brake pedal.
Engine output and engine torque
%
The actual (maximum) values that can be ach-
ieved for engine output and engine torque
may deviate from the certified values within
the country-specific guidelines for permissible
tolerances (basis: UN-ECE No. 85 or country-
specific guidelines).
Influencing variables that can influence this
are, for example:
Location above sea level
R
Fuel grade
R
Outside temperature
R
Operating temperature of the engine
