@ To play sound with the Surround effect
DOLBY SURROUND
1. Set the SURROUND
ON/OFF key to ON.
@ The DOLBY SURROUND
indicator lights.
2. Select the source to be played with the Dolby-surround
sound effect, and play it.
3. Adjust the volume level and balance between the front
speakers and the rear speakers by controlling the REAR
LEVEL control keys.
® The VOLUME
CONTROL
allows you to increase
or
decrease the volume level for both the front and rear
channels simultaneously.

H Note on the Surround mode
The reason why the sound you experience in concert halls or
stadiums is so real and live is that the sound reaching your ears
comes not only from the front but also from the surroundings.
To reproduce sound with an effect as close as possible to a
"'live'' atmosphere,
this unit is provided with the DolbyQQ
SURROUND
mode.

H To adjust the input level
The INPUT BALANCE contro! normally set to center position.
However, if the left/right balance is shifted incorrectly, first set
the DOLBY SURROUND
ON/OFF key to ON, select and play
a monaural source and adjust the control so that no sound is
heard from the rear speakers.
@ Arranging the speakers
A variety of rear speaker arrangement patterns are possible ac-
cording to room size, layout, reverberation characteristics, and
other factors.
The arrangement pattern given here is typical example for
providing an effective Surround atmosphere. This example is
only suggestion. Arrange the speakers according to your in-
dividual taste.
