ARCHED SEGMENT WALLS (OUTSIDE) – WITH BASE
Example: A lobby is designed to have an arched window set behind the reception desk with
measurements of 9 Feet 2 Inches in width and and a window height of 3 Feet 11-1/2 Inches. There is
also meant to be 3 Feet of Space between the top of the window and the ceiling.
Find the arc angle, arc length and segment area of the window. Then, using the standard On-center
spacing of 16 Inches, and the space above the peak of the window as the "base height" find the
"outside" arched segment wall lengths in order to frame the window.
