When the headphones are connected:
HP 2CH
The normal sound field for headphones.
HP VIRTUAL
The sound field for headphones with
virtual surround effect. This sound field is
only effective when you play back multi
channel sources.

When playing a DVD, the effect is the same as
"A.F.D. AUTO".
2)
These sound fields cannot be selected when:
– you perform tape recording or USB
transferring operation.
– a microphone is connected.
– the Karaoke Mode is turned on.
Notes
• Depending on the disc, the surround effect
may not be as much as expected.
• If "NONE" is selected in surround speaker
setup, no sound will be output from the
surround speakers even if "LINK" is selected.
• You cannot change the sound field when
transferring to the USB device.
Enjoying the sound at low
volume
You can listen to the music at low volume
late at night.
Press NIGHT MODE on the unit
repeatedly to select "NIGHT MODE
ON"
"NIGHT" lights up in display.
The bass sound of the music is reduced
and the display dims.
To cancel the NIGHT MODE function
Press NIGHT MODE on the unit again.
The bass sound of the music is reinforced
and the display brightens up.
The METER MODE is automatically set
to "STANDARD" and the "GROOVE
ON" is selected.

Notes
• The illumination effect is not available when
you hold down SOUND FLASH on the unit
during night mode function.
• The function does not work when the
headphones are connected.
• This function is automatically turned off when
you
– turn off the system.
– connect the headphones.
– change the GROOVE effect.
Creating sound flash effect
With the sound flash function, you can
flash the sound output. The sound cuts off
periodically.
Use the buttons on the unit for the
operation.
Hold down SOUND FLASH during
playback.
The flashing effect is activated.
Release SOUND FLASH to cancel the
effect.
To change the sound flash speed
Hold down SOUND FLASH and turn
OPERATION DIAL to change the sound
flash speed (1 ~ 20).
The power illuminator will synchronize
with the selected SOUND FLASH effect.
