Listening to a non-preset radio
station
You can use manual tuning to tune in a
station with a weak signal and direct
tuning if you know the frequency of the
station.

Press FUNCTION +/– repeatedly
to select "TUNER FM" or
"TUNER AM" (or press TUNER/
BAND on the unit repeatedly to
select "FM" or "AM").

Tune in the station you want.
For manual tuning:
Press TUNING +/– repeatedly.
For direct tuning:
Press D.TUNING, then use the
numeric buttons to enter the frequency
of the station you want. For example,
press 1, 0, 2, 5 and 0 to enter the
frequency of FM 102.50 MHz, then
press ENTER. If you cannot tune in the
station, make sure you have entered
the right frequency. If you still cannot
tune in the station, the frequency is not
used in your area.
To cancel direct tuning
Press D.TUNING.
To change the AM tuning interval
(Except for Saudi Arabian model)
The factory setting for AM tuning interval
is 9 kHz (or 10 kHz for some areas).
Use the buttons on the unit for the
operation.

Press TUNER/BAND repeatedly to
select "AM".

Press "/1 to turn off the system.

Press DISPLAY repeatedly until
"SONY DEMO" appears, then hold
down ENTER and then press "/1
to turn on the system.
"AM 9K STEP" or "AM 10K STEP"
appears in the display.
When you change the interval, all the AM
preset stations are erased.
Tips
• To improve broadcast reception, adjust the
supplied antennas, or connect an external
antenna.
• When an FM stereo program has static noise,
press FM MODE repeatedly until "MONO"
lights up in the display. There will be no stereo
effect, but the reception will improve.
• You can also set the frequency by viewing the
tuner information on the TV screen.
Current band and
preset number
• You can turn off the sound temporarily by
pressing MUTING on the unit. To cancel the
muting function, press MUTING again or
increase the volume.
