Trouble Check
Symptom
The image on the viewfinder
screen is not dear.
A vertical band appears when
a subject such as lights or
candle flame is shot against a
dark background.

The playback picture is not
clear.
The picture is noisy.
There is dust inside the
viewfinder.
The supplied Remote
Commander does not
function.
The viewfinder lens is not
adjusted.
The contrast between the
subject and background is too
high: The camcorder is not
malfunctioning.
Shooting conditions were not
suitable for auto white balance
operation.
EDIT is set to ON in the menu
system.
The channel for the VCR is not
adjusted on the TV.
The video heads may be
contaminated.
Bubbles appear inside the lens.
Something interrupts the
infrared rays.
The batteries are not inserted
with the correct polarity.
Thje batteries are dead.
The HOLD switch is working,
When you use the camcorder
where the air pressure is low
such as on a mountain or in an
airplane, you may find bubbles
inside the lens. This is not a
malfunction, and will not
hinder recording. Bubbles will
usually disappear after about a
week. But, how long it takes
depends on the air pressure
and use.
Corrective Actions
Adjust the viewfinder lens.
Change locations.
Set it to OFF.
Adjust the TV.
Clean the heads using the Sony
V8-25CLH cleaning cassette.
Remove the viewfinder barrel
and clean the viewfinder
screen cover or viewfinder
lens.
Take off the obstacles.
insert the batteries with the
correct polarity.
Insert new batteries.
Set the switch in the opposite
direction of the arrow.
