18 Chapter 2: Hardware installation

Installing your Matrox Indio board

Before you install your Matrox Indio board, some precautionary measures must
be taken. Drain static electricity from your body (by touching a metal part of the
computer chassis). Then, turn off the power to your computer and its peripherals,
and unplug your computer.
Note that it is recommended that you install your board before you install your
software.
Proceed with the following steps to install your board:
1. Remove the cover of your computer; refer to your computer's documentation for
instructions.
2. Check that you have an empty PCIe slot in which to install your Matrox Indio
board. The board is a x1 PCIe board, so it will function in any PCIe slot. Note
that a PCIe Gen 2 capable slot will ensure the fastest possible transfer of data with
the Host.
3. If there is a metal plate at the back of the selected slots, remove it. Keep the screw
from the top of the plate to anchor your board once it is installed.
