BEFORE OPERATION
(Line VOLTAGE
SELECTOR
SWITCH
(For model HEM, HB, S and S/G)
The line voltage selector switch is located on the rear
panel of this player. Before your player is shipped from
the
factory,
the
switch
is set
to the
power
re-
quirements of the player's destination. Check that it is
set properly before plugging the power cord into the
outlet. If the voltage is not properly set or if you move
to an area where the voltage requirements differ, ad-
just the selector switch as follows:
1. Disconnect the power cord.
2. Provide yourself with a medium-sized
(flat-blade)
screwdriver.
Insert the tip of the screwdriver into
the groove of the selector switch and turn it so that
the power voltage marking of your area points to
the arrow.

HEM and HB models
INSTALLATION
When installing the player, pick a flat, stable location.
Avoid the following types of places:
e
Locations struck by direct sunlight.
e
Locations with high humidity or large amounts of
dust.
Locations which are extremely hot or cold.
Near heat-generating appliances.
Shaky locations, or those with vibration.
Cramfped locations that prevent air flow through air
vents.
e
On top of rug, beds, or sofas.
e
Inkitchens or other places where the player may be
struck by oil smoke, steam, or heat.
Heavy
items should
not be rested
on top of the
player.
Moisture will form in the operating section of the
player
and
the
player's
performance
will be im-
paired if the player is brought from cool surround-
ings into a warm
room or if the temperature of the
room rises suddenly.
To prevent this, let the player stand in its new sur-
roundings for about an hour before switching it on,
or ensure that the room temperature rises gradually.
ABOUT THE DISC TABLE PAD
A protective pad has been inserted inside the disc
table. This pad cannot be removed without turning on
the power, and pressing the OPEN/CLOSE button to
open the disc table.
Remove this pad before using the player for the first
time.
After removing the pad, store it with the other packing
materials,
and
replace
it in the disc
table
when
transporting the player during future moves.
*Be sure that none of the tape
securing the pad is torn and
left stuck to the disc table.
Remove it completely.
