Connection to the AC mains
Please ensure that the mains voltage specified on the type plate
of the amplifier agrees with that of the place of installation.
The amplifier is set to 230 volts at the factory and thus can
be connected to mains voltages of 220 - 240 volts.
It is pos-
sible to switch over to a mains voltage of
110 — 120 volts but,
for reasons of safety, this should be carried out by trade dealers
or by authorised Dual servicing stations.
Do not connect
the amplifier to the mains
until you have
connected
the loudspeaker
and
the program
sources
(turn-
table, tuner etc).
Installation
Despite the fact that we have taken extensive protective measures
against
overload,
when
setting
up the amplifier you should
make sure that the air circulation is not prevented.
The perfora-
ted covering panels should be free and the vertical distance
between
the amplifier and the next HiFi component
must be
at least 1 cm. This distance is automatically
ensured
in the
rack of the collection 1500 RC.
Ensure that the connection lead and mains lead connection
with a tuner are not placed in the direct vicinity of the antenna.
Connection and alignment of the main program sources
You can connect two turntables with magnetic systems, a tape
recorder or cassette deck, a radio tuner and, in addition, a
further tape recorder or a further tuner to your amplifier.
The inputs PHONO
1, TUNER
and TAPE are equipped not
only with DIN but also with cynch jacks. These inputs can also
be optimally adapted to the output voltage of the connected
components by means of 3-stage switches.
The switches are set at the factory to the highest sensitivity
(O dB). Select a different switch position if the music of a
program source sounds distorted, even if the volume
is low.
Volume differences between the program sources can also be
balanced out with these switches in order to avoid always
having to operate the volume controls when switching over.

In the case of turntables with cynch leads, the tracer must be
connected to the screw on the rear of the amplifier marked
with GND.
Loudspeaker connection
Two speakers with 4 or 8 Ohm impedance can be connected
to each channel.
The highest power is obtained with 4 Ohm
speakers.
Therefore, also connect the "Series 700" speakers from Dual
via the 4 Ohm input.
Especially in large rooms, 4 speakers con-
siderably improve the stereo effect and result in a more uniform
acoustic coverage of the room area.
When connecting the speakers via the plug-in terminal strip,
use double lines with marked
wires and at least 0.5 mm:
cross-section, Make sure that you connect the correct poles as
otherwise certain frequencies will be lost during reproduction.
The plug-in and terminal contacts marked RIGHT are for the
right speakers and those marked LEFT are for the left speakers
— these positions refer to the listener's left and right
Headphone connection
You can fully enjoy the magic world of music in stereo through
headphones without having to turn down the volume of the
speakers in fear of annoying the neighbours.
Connect medium to high impedance headphones with a quarter
inch coax, plug to the PHONES
jack on the front side.
Microphone connection
Nowadays, a stereo system is incomplete without a microphone.
Dual
amplifiers
always have an accordingly designed micro-
phone
input with separate level control.
