ables better control of the machine in unexpected situ-
ations.
When cutting brush or saplings that are under ten-
u
sion, be alert for spring back. When the tension in the
wood fibres is released, the brush or sapling may strike
the operator and/or throw the machine out of control.
Use extreme caution when cutting brush and saplings.
u
The slender material may catch the blade and be whipped
toward you or pull you off balance.
Maintain control of the machine and do not touch
u
blades and other hazardous moving parts while they
are still in motion. This reduces the risk of injury from
moving parts.
When clearing jammed material or servicing the ma-
u
chine, make sure the switch is off and the battery
pack is removed. Unexpected starting of the machine
while clearing jammed material or servicing may result in
serious personal injury.
Carry the machine with the machine switched off and
u
away from your body. Proper handling of the machine
will reduce the likelihood of accidental contact with the
moving blade.
When transporting or storing the machine, always fit
u
the cover on metal blades. Proper handling of the ma-
chine will reduce the likelihood of accidental contact with
the blade.
Only use replacement cutters, lines, cutting heads and
u
blades specified by the manufacturer. Incorrect re-
placement parts may increase the risk of breakage and in-
jury.
Blade thrust related warnings
Blade thrust is the sudden sideward, upward or backward
u
motion of the machine, occurring when the blade is
caught or snagged on an object such as a stump or small
tree. It can be so severe that the machine and/or the op-
erator are thrown in any direction, possibly leading to loss
of control over the machine. Blade impact and associated
hazards can be avoided by taking the safety precautions
described below.
Maintain a firm grip with both hands on the machine
u
and position your arms to resist blade thrust. Position
your body to the left side of the machine. Blade thrust
can increase the risk of injury due to the machine moving
unexpectedly. Blade thrust can be controlled by the oper-
ator if proper precautions are taken.
If the blade binds, or when interrupting a cut for any
u
reason, switch the machine off and hold the machine
motionless in the material until the blade comes to a
complete stop. While the blade is binding, never at-
tempt to remove the machine from the material or pull
the machine backward while the blade is in motion,
otherwise blade thrust may occur. Investigate and take
corrective actions to eliminate the cause of blade binding.
Do not use blunt or damaged blades. Blunt or damaged
u
blades increase the risk of jamming or catching on an ob-
ject, resulting in blade thrust.

Always maintain good visibility of the material being
u
cut. Blade thrust is more likely to occur in areas where it
is difficult to see the material being cut.
If you are approached by another person while operat-
u
ing the machine, switch the machine off. There is an in-
creased risk of injury to other persons being struck by the
moving blade in the event of blade thrust.
Special Safety Warnings
Keep guards in place. Guards must be in working or-
u
der and be properly mounted. A guard that is loose,
damaged, or is not functioning correctly may result in per-
sonal injury.
Never allow children, persons with physical, sensory or
u
mental limitations or a lack of experience and/or know-
ledge and/or people unfamiliar with these instructions to
use the machine. Local regulations may restrict the age of
the operator.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not
u
play with the machine.
Do not operate the product with the cutting blade in close
u
proximity to the mains/extension cable.
Check the product for damage if it hits a hard object or in
u
case of excessive vibration.
When shortening the cutting line, take care not to cut
u
yourself.
When switching off the product, always make sure that
u
the motor and cutting head have come to a complete
standstill.
Cut high and dense grass in stages to achieve uniform cut-
u
ting results. (see figure N)
The dome washer (24) is used to slightly support the
u
product during use to protect the blade from obstacles
such as trees.
During use, the normal operation of the machine should
u
not be interrupted by the dome washer when the device
is positioned on the floor.
When inserting the battery, make sure that the cutting
u
blade does not make contact with your body and other
objects, including the floor. The cutting blade may rotate
during start-up and cause injury or damage to the product
and/or objects.
Do not over reach and keep your balance at all times. Al-
u
ways be sure of your footing on slopes. Walk, never run.
In case of prolonged use, we recommend to take appro-
u
priate breaks.
Prolonged use of the product (or other machines) expos-
u
ing the operator to vibrations may produce white finger
disease (Raynaud's phenomenon) or carpal tunnel syn-
drome.
These conditions reduce the hand's ability to feel and reg-
u
ulate temperature, can lead to numbness and burning
sensations and may cause nerve and circulation damage
and tissue necrosis.
Contact your doctor if you experience symptoms of over-
u
exposure to vibration. These symptoms include numb-
