76 ADJUSTMENT

MIRRORS

Adjusting mirrors
Turn the mirror to the appro-
priate position.
If the mirror's range of
adjustment is not enough
to permit correct alignment, the
position of the mirror arm has
to be changed accordingly.
Adjusting mirror arm
Use the tool from the on-
board toolkit to slacken nut 1.
Turn mirror arm 2 to the ap-
propriate position.
Tighten nut 1, while holding
mirror arm 2 to ensure that
it does not move out of posi-
tion.

HEADLIGHT

Headlight beam throw and
spring preload
Headlight beam throw is
generally kept constant when
spring preload is adjusted to
suit load.
However, a spring preload ad-
justment might not suffice if
the motorcycle is very heavily
loaded. Under these circum-
stances, headlight beam throw
has to be adjusted to suit the
weight carried by the motor-
cycle.
If there are doubts about
the correct headlight
beam throw, have the setting
checked by a specialist work-
shop, preferably an authorised
BMW Motorrad retailer.
