White and black balance adjustment
Auto black balance error messages
When auto black balance adjustment fails, the following error messages appear on the viewfinder
screen for about 6 seconds.
Message
AUTO BLACK:NG
CHANGE TO CAM
TRY AGAIN
AUTO BLACK:NG
IRIS NOT CLOSED
TRY AGAIN
AUTO BLACK:NG
TALLY ON
EXECUTE ?
AUTO BLACK:NG
???
TRY AGAIN
Note1
 Observe that the lens connector is engaged and the iris is closed.
 The iris closes automatically to block the light during black balance adjustment.
 During black balance adjustment, the gain circuit is switched automatically.
 Although flicker or noise may appear on the viewfinder screen, these are not malfunctions.
Note2
 The lens iris is automatically closed during black balance adjustment. If the iris control is
manual, open the iris after adjustment.
 Check the lens connection. If ok, fault is in the lens or the camera. Consult service.
Cause
The OUTPUT/AUTO KNEE switch
is set to BAR.
The Iris is not closed.
The TALLY lamp lighted.
Message asks for auto black
confirmation after execute tally off.
Range is exceeded, cannot adjust.

Correction
Set the OUTPUT/AUTO KNEE switch to
CAM.
See Note 1.
If the Auto Black button on a remote
controller is pressed again, the auto black
will be executed even if a tally is on.
When press the auto black button again,
please make sure the situation.
See Note 2.
