• The adapter placement rules to be followed while installing the third adapter:
1. ESS 3500 Adapter MES procedure describes how to install one or more additional adapter pairs in
each server canisters.
Note: Each pair of adapters should be installed in the exact same adapter slot in each server
canister.
2. You should not remove any existing adapter from a server canister to complete the adapter MES
procedure. The MES is only intended to ADD and NOT REPLACE any previously installed adapters.
Note: If you encounter an unexpected result, contact the next-level support.
3. Use the Placement Priority table given below to determine the type of adapter you need to install in
each pair, the proceed with the installation in the same sequence.
4. Choose the slot to install each pair of adapters by traversing the slot numbers in the order (1st
pair -> 2nd pair -> 3rd pair -> 4th pair) assigned to each type of adapter. For example, if slot 4
is not already occupied by an adapter, installing a pair of SAS adapters there would be the initial
installation. Slot 2 is the only location to install a SAS adapter for MES if Slot 4 already has an
adapter.
