Ifa tape with its erase protection tab broken off is loaded, the
unit will not enter TIMER STANDBY mode.

If timer recording is carried out with the LCD panel in its up-
right, open position, both picture and sound will be available
during recording.
To prevent unnecessary power consumption, close the LCD
panel while the unit is in TIMER STANDBY mode.
@ The channel selected when making the timer program settings
is valid only when the INPUT selector is set to TUNER.
If timer recording begins when the INPUT selector is set to LINE
or ACCESSORY, the picture and sound input from the external
input terminals are recorded.

Do not change the setting of the TV SYSTEM selector after the

timer program settings have been completed. The selected
channel may not be able to be tuned in properly during timer
recording.
SLEEP TIMER
'5. Set the unit to TIMER STANDBY mode.
After completing the timer setting operation, press the TIMER
- REC button to set the unit to TIMER STANDBY mode.
The power goes off and the TIMER REC indicator lights.
Recording automatically begins at the recording start time
and the power is automatically turned off at the recording
end time.
The power cannot be turned on using the POWER button
while the unit is in TIMER STANDBY mode.
To resume normal operation, press the TIMER REC button
to cancel TIMER STANDBY mode and then turn on the
power using the POWER button.

Before using the sleep timer
Check to make sure that the clock is set correctly.
If the clock has not been set and '12:00" (red characters) is blinking on the screen, the sleep timer will not function.

To check the sleep timer remaining time
Press the SLEEP button once.
The remaining time is displayed on the screen as shown in the dia-
gram.
If the SLEEP button is pressed 2 or more times, the time period will
be extended.
The power will turn off after 23 minutes.
§ To cancel the sleep timer
Press the SLEEP timer button several times so that the '-:~" dis-
play appears.
,@ The sleep timer can also be canceled by turning off the power
with the POWER button.

@ When running the unit from a battery, the power may shut off
before the set time period has elapsed depending on the charge
condition of the battery.
1. Press the SLEEP button.
The SLEEP setting screen appears.
2. Press the SLEEP button a number of times to select the de-
sired time period.
Each time the SLEEP button is pressed, the time period setting
changes according to the following sequence.

3. After selecting the desired time, leave the unit as it is.
After 5 seconds, the sleep timer setting display will disap-
pear and the original display will return.
