Fundamentals Polarity Kistler defines polarity in such a way that an increase in compressive force in a force sensor produces a negative charge. The charge amplifier inverts the sensor signal and in this case generates a positive output voltage. Measuring range We recommend setting the widest measuring range at the start of measurement or for very intermittent operation.
  • Page 10 mICA – miniature Industrial Charge Amplifier with IO-Link, Type 5028A... At the end of each measuring cycle the negative feedback capacitor is discharged by means of the Reset command and the output signal is set to zero in order to prevent zero drift during measurement.

Integration into the control environment is carried out as with any other IO-Link device using an IO-Link Master interface by loading the IODD file provided by Kistler. Functions and parameters The Type 5028A… may be configured regarding signal filtering and signal output behavior.

Kistler provides insulation elements for sensors as well as ground insulation kits available for the Type 5028A amplifier series. CAUTION See section “3.3.2 Installation” for mounting requirements. öffentlich...
  • Page 15: Analog Operation Without Io-Link Master

Description of the Type 5028A Charge Amplifier A low-impedance and at the same time low-inductance connection between amplifier case and sensor and customer system (large-area copper braiding, ribbon cable) usually provides good results. On the other side, the sensor and/or the amplifier may also be installed using insulation elements to eliminate current flow based on potential differences or induction. 3.4 Analog Operation without IO-Link Master Type 5028A amplifier will automatically turn into analog operation mode if no IO-Link Master is detected during startup.

mICA – miniature Industrial Charge Amplifier with IO-Link, Type 5028A... 3.5 IO-Link Operation Type 5028A amplifier will automatically turn into IO-Link operation mode if an IO-Link Master is detected during startup. The device may be configured initially with the user parameters, or during operation using acyclic communication.
  • Page 17 Description of the Type 5028A Charge Amplifier It is highly recommended to use the Operate status bit to verify proper reset of the measuring channel, in order to respect state machine behavior. Discharge of the signal is given by physical means. Violating the reset-time may result in incorrect NOTE measurement data.

Description of the Type 5028A Charge Amplifier The correction extends the reset to measure switching time depending on the low pass filter setting (total delay: 1.5 ms + low pass filter delay). During this transition, the output is paused. Due to technical limitations, the correction must not be set in combination with low pass filter 10 Hz. This is not prevented in software. NOTE Corresponding Output Voltage During Setup for analog applications, this acyclic value may be read on demand to verify the theoretical output value based on current input signal and device settings.

  • Page 24 The output signal drops exponentially towards zero. It is caused by the insulation resistance in the charge amplifier feedback being too low. In turn this is due to poor feedback capacitor insulation resistance. To rectify the defect, return the charge amplifier to the responsible Kistler sales center/ distributor for repair. Cause 2 The signal at the output drifts linearly in the positive or negative direction.
  • Page 25 Dirty amplifier input, sensor and cable connectors and sockets must be cleaned or replaced. The zero of the charge amplifier input stage can be recalibrated if the problem persists. Send the amplifier to the responsible Kistler sales center/distributor to have this carried out. Cause 3 is readily diagnosed by removing the sensor and sensor cable and connecting a charge calibrator for testing. NOTE 002-895e-08.22...
