INTRODUCTION
The CDD522 allows the recording on CD of large quantities of
data (up to 600 Mb) in one of the standard
CD-formats
:
CD-ROM
(XA),CD Photo, CD-! AND CD-DA. The drives of the
CDD522 family are able to write and read with double and normal
transfer rate compared to standard CD-ROM
(XA) and CD-DA
drives. Because the CDD522 operates conform the Orange Book
standard, the recorded discs can be read in a CD-ROM (XA),
CD-I, CD Photo and CD-DA player.The CD-R recordable media
are industry standard and available as "Blank discs" from various
suppliers. The 12cm discs have a formatted capacity of
approximately 600 Mbytes and can be inserted and removed by
the operator. The 8cm discs have a formatted capacity of
approximately 200 Mbytes.
The disc is read and written optically in fixed length sectors by a
movable
head with a diode laser.
Built-in error
correction
ensures high data integrity.
The CDD522 is a 42cm wide stand
alone drive and is designed to operate under office conditions.
The CDD522
and the host computer communicate via a SCSI
bus.
Features of the CDD522 CD-writer: .
- Second generation design.
- Writes and reads data at two times standard
CD-speed.
- Capable of writing multiple logical volumes on
one physical disc (multiple sessions).
- Upgradable internal buffer for catching data (default
2 Mb, expandable up to 8 or 32 Mb).
Unpacking
If the CDD522 package shows evidence of rough handling or
damage and the drive does not function properly on initial startup:
return the drive and damaged package to your supplier and
request a replacement.
Lift out the CDD522 and remove the packing pieces.
Check that the package contains following items :
- 1 Philips CD-R disc
- A5 user manual
A mains cable, SCSI cable and a SCSI controller board can be
purchased with your supplier.
