- Page 2 STEP 1 Attach rails to the headboard and footboard by sliding the holes in the mounting bracket onto the bolts protruding from the headboard/footboard. Tighten bolts using a wrench. Do not overtighten. STEP 2 Slide the slats into the corresponding brackets in the bed rails.
