Before
attempting
an "off airport"
landing,
one should
drag
the
land-
ing area
at a safe but low altitude
to
inspect
the terrain
for obstructions
and
surface
conditions,
proceeding
as follows:
(1)
Drag
over
selected
field with flaps
20°
and
75
MPH airspeed,
noting
the
preferred
area
for
touchdown
for
the
next landing
approach.
Then
retract
flaps
upon reaching
a safe altitude
and airspeed.
(2)
Radio,
Electrical
Switches

OFF.
(3)
Wing Flaps
--
40°
(on final
approach).
(4) Airspeed

75
MPH.
(5)
