Setting Description
"MIN" Setting for low energy recovery.
"MID" Setting for medium energy recov-
ery.
"MAX" Setting for maximum energy recov-
ery.
Energy recovery settings can be configured in
the M Setup menu. Additional information:
M Setup, refer to page 209.
Functional requirements
Conditions such as the following prerequisites
must be met to recover kinetic energy:
▷ The vehicle is moving.
▷ Selector lever position D, M, or S is en-
gaged.
▷ The high-voltage battery is not fully
charged.
Support from the electric motor
During normal driving, the electric motor as-
sists the combustion engine, depending on the
situation.
Accelerating quickly such as when passing re-
quires the maximum available power from the
electric motor. To do this, depress the acceler-
ator pedal firmly.
Anticipatory hybrid drive
Principle
The system facilitates an optimal distribution
of the available electric energy to permit elec-
tric driving with active destination guidance
of the navigation system in the city and in
the destination region. If the high-voltage bat-
tery is sufficiently charged, additional route
sections will be selected for electric driving.

General information
For example, downhill gradients are taken into
account for efficient energy recovery.
Depending on the route section, the combus-
tion engine is automatically switched on or off,
which supports an efficient driving style and
emission-free driving in the inner city.
Functional requirements
▷ The function must be available in the coun-
try in which the vehicle is driven.
▷ Selector lever position D is engaged.
▷ Route guidance is enabled.
▷ Drive mode "SPORT" is not active.
▷ The "Maintaining the battery charge" func-
tion is deactivated.
Displays
Example: out of town situation. Electric driving
is prepared before arriving in a town. When
the town is reached, the vehicle switches to
electric driving automatically.
Live Vehicle also shows other situations:
▷ Downhill gradient: the vehicle drives electri-
cally on the downhill gradient and the high-
voltage battery is charged.
▷ Target zone: electric driving is preferred in
the target zone.
The icon is displayed on Live Vehicle
when the function is enabled.
