20 It is recommended that the power cable be regularly inspected to detect any trace
of possible damage, and the appliance should not be used if the cable is damaged.
21 If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, their after-
sales service or a manufacturer-approved technician to avoid any danger.
Before using for the first time
1 Set the browning level to maximum (6).
2 Operate the appliance empty, to cure the new elements.
3 This may smell a bit, but it's nothing to worry about. Ensure the room is well ventilated.

Toasting bread

4 Put the plug into the power socket.
5 Turn the browning control to the required setting (1 = light, 6 = dark). Put bread into
the toasting slots (maximum thickness 25mm).
6 Press the bread carriage handle down fully.
It won't lock down unless the toaster is connected to the electricity supply.
7 When it's done, the toast will pop up and the elements will turn off.
The walls and area near the carriage openings can get very hot. Do not touch!

8 To stop toasting, press the

9 After toasting small items (bagels, crumpets, etc.) the bread carriage handle may be
raised further, to allow them to be removed more easily.
Frozen bread
10 Leave the browning control at your favoured setting, insert the frozen bread, lower the
bread carriage handle, then press the
11 The light will come on, and the toasting time will be altered automatically to give the
same degree of browning you get with unfrozen bread.

Reheating toast

12 Use the lowest setting. Only reheat plain,"unbuttered" toast.
Care and maintenance
13 Unplug the appliance when not in use, before moving and before cleaning. Let it cool
down fully before cleaning and storing away.
14 Wipe outer surfaces with a damp cloth. If necessary, use a little washing-up liquid.
15 Remove and empty the crumb tray. Wipe with a damp cloth, dry, then replace it in the
toaster.
16 Don't let anything enter the slots, you might damage the elements.
17 Don't put the appliance in water or any other liquid.
18 Don't use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents or solvents.
