GENERAL
DESCRIPTION
The l/2 inch orifice Model F950 Inter-
mediate Level Sprinklers are a fusible
solder type, automatic sprinkler. They
are primarily designed for use in rack
storage sprinkler systems, where their
fusible elements must be shielded from
the water spray of higher elevation
sprinklers which could operate earlier
during
a
fire.
Intermediate
Level
Sprinklers are also used in applications
such as beneath open gridded cat-
walks. Figures A and B illustrate the
upright and pendent versions, respec-
tively.
APPROVALS
AND STANDARDS
The l/2 inch orifice Model F950 Inter-
mediate Level Sprinklers are listed by
Underwriters Laboratories Inc. as well
as Underwriters'
Laboratories of Can-
ada. They are approved by the New
York
City
Board of Standards and
Appeals under Calendar Number 334-
79-SA
and by the Factory Mutual
Research Corp. who classifies them
as Rack Storage Sprinklers.
Listings and approvals only apply to
the temperature
ratings and finishes
stated in the Technical Data section.

devices in proper operating condition.

TECHNICAL
DATA
The sprinkler Shield is a sturdy 4-l/8
inch diameter
.05
inch thick
brass
plate. It is factory assembled in the
case of the upright sprinkler (Figure
A). Field assembly of the shield com-
ponents to the pendent sprinker is re-
quired
(Figure
B).
The
Speednut,
Shield and O-ring Seal can be quickly
installed over the threaded end of the
spiinkler.

Example:
For a horizontal
spacing of 9 feet In Case 1 the vertical spacing must be less than
! feet 6 inches (Point A) or more than 7 feet 3 inches (fioint 6).
