Getting Started

4.1

Assembly and Line-up

Read and follow these instructions when connecting and using the FL3X Interface-PMC:
Ensure that all signal lines connected to the FL3X Interface-PMC are in the allowed range.
Be sure to connect all cables as described in this manual.
Never insert anything metallic into the openings of the FL3X Interface-PMC.
Ensure to grasp the plug and not the cable when disconnecting the FL3X Interface-PMC.

Hardware Installation and Maintenance

Be aware that the FL3X Interface-PMC and the FlexTiny II are electrostatic discharge
sensitive devices. Please refer to Appendix A: Guideline for handling ESD sensitive
Products.
Do not touch the components on the board or the pin connectors.
Check the correct orientation of the mounted FlexTiny II.
First, the FlexTiny II modules you want to use are mounted onto the FlexCard. Refer to chapter 3.5
Interfaces and Connectors.
Use only FlexTiny II modules from STAR ELECTRONICS GmbH & Co. KG listed in chapter 8.2
Accessory Parts to ensure proper function and for warranty reasons!
Following PMC-to-PCI-adapters exist:
 TEWS TPCI270
 ramix CP236
 NAT NPCI-PMC
Following PMC-to-PCIe-adapters exist:
 TEWS TPCE260
 Xalyo XS-PCIE
 General Standards PCIe1 to PMC Adapter
Incompatibilities between the PC system, the carrier module and the FlexCard PMC-II may
appear. It is the responsibility of the system integrator to test that these components work
correctly together.
