ATSC
Acronym that stands for Advanced Television
Systems Committee and the name of the
digital broadcasting standards.
Aspect ratio
The width of a TV screen relative to its
height. Conventional TVs are 4:3 (in other
words, the screen is almost square);
widescreen models are 16:9 (the screen is
almost twice as wide as its height).
Component Video
This is a video signal format that conveys
each of 3 principal colors of light (red,
blue and green) through different signal
lines.This allows the viewers to experience
picture colors as original as it is.There are
several signal formats, including Y / Pb / Pr
andY/Cb/Cr.

offers stereo sound (2ch) or multi-channel

HDTV (high definition TV)
Ultimate digital format that produces high
resolution and high picture quality.
NTSC
Acronym that stands for National Television
Systems Committee and the name of the
current analog broadcasting standards.
Password
A stored 4-digit number that allows access
to parental control features.
Region Code
Regions associate discs and players with
particular areas of the world.This unit will
only play back discs that have compatible
region codes.You can find the region code
of your unit by looking on the rear panel.
Some discs are compatible with more than
one region (or all regions).
SAP (secondary audio program)
Second-audio channel delivered separately
from main-audio channel.This audio
channel is used as an alternate in bilingual
broadcasting.
SDTV (standard definition TV)
Standard digital format that is similar to the
NTSCpicture quality.
S-video
Offers higher quality images by delivering
each signal, color (c) and luminance (y)
independently of each other through
separate cables.

Wipe the panel w ithasoftcloth.Before cleaning t he panel, disconnect the
power cord.

owner's manual, the laser optical pickupunit may be dirty. Consultyour
dealer oran AuthorizedService Centerfor inspection andcleaning ofthe
laseroptical pickup unit.
• Handlethe discssothat fingerprints and dust do not adhereto the
surfacesofthe discs.
• Alwaysstorethe discin its protective case when it isnot used.
• Toclean-off,use a soft cloth.
• Do not usea hard cloth sincethis will mar the disc.
• Wipethe discin a straight line from centerto edge.
• Neverwipe with a circularmotion.
• Do not use_leaning agents.
If the remotecontrolisnot working properly, yon can usean AM radioor
digital camera(including a cellular phonewith built-in camera)to see if it
issendingout an infraredsignal.
• With an AM radio:
Tunethe Atvl r adiostation to a non-broadcasting "_
frequency. Point the remotecontrol towardsit,
push any button and listen. Ifthesound from
the radioflutters, it isreceivingthe remote f
control'sinfraredsignal.

• With a digital camera

phonecameras)
Point a digital cameratowardsthe remotecontrol.
Pnshany button on the remotecontrol and look
through the digital camera. If the infraredlight
appearsthmngh the camera,the remotecontrol is
working.
