WARNING
Personal Injury Hazard
Always turn off and unplug the vacuum
cleaner before cleaning the agitator area
as agitator may suddenly restart. Failure
to do socan result in personal injury.
OVERLOAD PROTECTOR
The PowerMate has built-in protection
against motor and belt damage shouldthe
agitator jam. If the agitator slows clown or
stops, the overload protector shuts off the
PowerMate. The canister motor will continue
to run.
To correct problem: Turn off and unplug
vacuum cleaner, remove obstruction,
then
press OVERLOAD PROTECTOR RESET
button.
If the problem persists, have the vacuum
cleaner serviced by a Sears or other
qualified service agent.

DIRT SENSOR
Thedirt sensor is located on the floor brush.
When the vacuumcleaner isin use, with the
switchin the CARPETposition,the blue light
will come on as dirt is being vacuumed.As
long as the light ison, dirt is passingthrough
the handle to indicate that the surface still
needs cleaning.
When the sensorlight turns off, the sensoris
not seeingenoughdirt to warrant further
cleaning of that area.

TO CLEAN DIRT SENSORLENSES
The dirt sensorlenses are located on the
insideof the floor brush. These lenses should
be cleaned periodically.
1. Remove floor brush from nozzle.
2. Turn floor brush upside down.
3. The two dirt sensor lenses are located on
the inside of the opening as shown. Brush
each sensor lens several times to remove dust
and dirt.

CAUTION
Never use water or any cleaning solution
when cleaning the lenses. The residue of
the water or cleaners will accelerate the
recoating of the lensesand make cleaning
necessary sooner.
