Getting Started
This section explains the basic functions
of the CONTROL A1 ]I Control System.
Certain components have special
functions, such as "CD Synchro Dubbing"
on cassette decks, that require CONTROL
A11I connections. For detailed information
regarding specific operations, be sure to
also refer to the Operating Instructions
supplied with your component(s).
The CONTROL AI lI Control System was
designed to simplify the operation of audio
systems composed of separate Sony
components. CONTROL AI II connections
provide a poth for the transmission of control
signals which enable automatic operation and
control feotures usuolly associated with
integrated systems.
Currently, CONTROL AI II connections
between a Sony CD player, amplifier
(receiver), MD deck and cassette deck provide
automotic l_nction selection ,and synchronized
recording.
in the 1hture, the CONTROL AI II connection
will work ars a multifunction bus ollowing you
to control various functions for each
component.
Notes
• The CONTROL AIII Control System is designed to
maimain upward eompa_ibdity as _he Control
System is upgr',_xled _o handle new functions. In this
case, however, older components will not be
compatible with tile new thnctions.
• Do not operate a 2 way l_mote control unit when
the CONTROL A 111jacks an connected via a PC
interface kit to a personal compuler l_anning "MD
Editor" or similar application. Also, do not operate
the conil_lcd component ill a manner contrary _o
the functions of the application, as this may cause
the application lo operate incorrectly.
CONTROL AIH and CONTROL A1
compatibility
The CONTROL AI control syslem has been
updated to _he CONTROL AllI which is _he
standard system in lbe Sony 300 disc CD changer
and other recent Sony components. Components
with CONTROL At jacks are compatible wilh
componenis wilh CONTROL AIII, and can be
connected to each other. Basically, lhe majority of
the functions availabfe wilh the CONTROL A I
control system wi!l be available with lhe
CONTROL AllI control system.
However, when making connections between
compenenis wilh CONTROL A! jacks and
compenenis wilh CONTROL AllI jacks, _he
nnmber of functions that can he controlled may he
limited depending on the comlx}nenL For de_ailed
information, refer to the operating instructions
supplied with the componenffs).
Connections
Connect monaural mini-plug cords in series to
the CONTROL A 1H jacks on 1he back of each
component. You can connect up to 10
CONTROL AI lI compotible components in
amy order. However, you can connect only one
of each type of component (i.e., 1 CD player, I
MD deck, I tape deck and 1 receiver).
(You may be oble to connect more than one CD
player or MD deck, depending on the model.
