  2. MK-800 pump can only be used for pumping liquids of temperature up to 35°C and must not be used with inflammable materials or consumable liquids
  3. The power cord is non-detachable and cannot be replaced. If the cord is damaged, the device must be discarded.
  4. The maximum submergence depths is stated in technical specification.
  5. The device is designed for usage only indoors and accordingly to its destination.

INSTALLATION AND START-UP

MULTIKANI filter can be installed in three ways depending on its application. It is recommended to install a pre-filter on the intake tube in form of sponge cartridge (Art. Nr. 101235).

Pre-filter is not a part of the device and can be purchased independently:

Installation with Powering pump inside the tank
Powering pump installed inside the tank, on its wall has a function of pump feeding the water to the filter. The solution is recommended for standard aquaria with fish.

Fig. 3 – powering pump installed outside, beneath the water level in aquarium, has a function of over- flow pump. The solution is recommended for standard aquaria with fish. In this case, before setting-up the filter it is necessary to deliver water to the pump by sucking it in to the intake tube.

Function of pump delivering water to the filter
Powering pump installed inside the tank has a function of pump delivering water to the filter. The solution is recommended for aquaria with low water level.

INSTALLATION AND START-UP - Pipes assembly
The way of pipes assembling.

The connection scheme shown in the drawings can only be employed inside the tank. In no case should you mount the pump outside the tank using the new elements, as this may result in the flooding of the premises!

Unlike the majority of other canister filters, MULTIKANI can be also placed above the water level in aquarium.

UPGRADING OPTIONS

MULTIKANI filter can be expended freely depending on the needs, adjusting it to the size of the aquarium. In order to expand the filter, additional filtration basket should be placed between the complete cover and standard basket.

The operation of replacing the cartridges should be preceded with disconnecting the control panel from the filter cover (by-pass function – no need to disconnect the pump from power supply).

To unscrew the baskets use the special opening device placed in the hollow on the top of complete cover. How to use the opening device is illustrated.
Using the opening device to unscrew the baskets

The baskets can be combined in series (fig.7) in the amount of up to 8 baskets put one on the other or in parallel (fig. 8), so that the total amount of baskets in both columns also does not exceed 8.
Basket combinations

To combine the filtration baskets in parallel, cut a piece of tube and use it to connect the outlet opening of the first column with the intake opening of the second one. The water is then delivered from the pump to the intake opening of the first column, whereas the filtered water comes back to aquarium through the outlet opening of the second column.

Recommended numbers of filtration baskets: aquarium 20-40 l – 1 basket; 41-80 l – 2 baskets; 81-120 l – 3 baskets; 121-160 l – 4 baskets; 161-200 l – 5 baskets; 201-240 l – 6 baskets; 241-280 l – 7 baskets; 281-320 l – 8 baskets.

MAINTENANCE

Powering pump impeller needs regular cleaning to remove the possible mechanical impurities from the impeller chamber. In order to do that, after disconnecting the device from the power supply, unscrew the pump cover counter-clockwise, remove the impeller cover, take the impeller out and clean its chamber with a soft brush.
Maintenance - Cleaning the impeller chamber

If the pump is operating outside aquarium (fig. 3) as overflow pump it is recommended to maintain the gasket placed under the impeller cover on regular basis by cleaning it thoroughly and lubricating it with AQUAEL special silicone lubricant.

Filtration cartridges inside the filter should be rinsed regularly with water removed from aquarium (not tap water!). It is advised to do the first cleaning after 2 months from starting the filter, and the following ones as the need arises, that is when the efficiency of the device decreases significantly. To ensure opti- mum functioning of filter, it is recommended to replace filtration cartridges for new ones at least every 12 months, whereas in case of CARBOMAX, ZEOMAX and NITROMAX baskets available as additional accessories, at least once a month.

If it is needed, the pump casing can be cleaned from algae or scale depositing on it, with a soft cloth or sponge.

MAINTENANCE - Using the control panel
To regulate the efficiency of filter work, turn the control panel clockwise within the range from 0 to 90 degrees. Turning the control valve full 90 degrees cuts off the water supply and allows to remove the filter from the casing without the need of disconnecting the pump from the power grid (e.g. in order to clean the filter interior) – by-pass function.

To ensure long-lasting and trouble free functioning of filter, it is recommended to change gas- kets under the powering pump periodically, control panel, cover of filter container, on the filter base and between the individual baskets (in case of the expended filter). If the need arises, it is also possible to replace the impeller in powering pump (Art. Nr 110911). Set of gaskets – Art. Nr 110417.
