Clock Overview

Battery precautions

  1. Do not use rechargeable batteries.
  2. Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended are to be used.
  3. Batteries are to be inserted with the correct polarity.
  4. Keep batteries away from children.
  5. According to local legal requirements exhausted batteries should not be disposed of by throwing away in normal household rubbish.
  6. Avoid short circuiting the contacts in the battery compartment and battery terminals.
  7. Remove battery from unit when not in use for long period of time.

Battery installation

  • Install 1 X AA (1.5V), observing the correct polarity, into battery compartment located on the back of the clock, as shown in the diagram.

Radio controlled operation DCF version

(Germany & European countries)
The Braun wall clock is set and controlled automatically by DCF radio signal. The DCF radio time code signal is broadcast from Frankfurt, Germany, the coverage of the DCF signal is the whole of the Germany. The time code signal can be received up to 1500km from Frankfurt. This covers most of Central and Western Europe, including the UK, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Switzerland, Northern Italy.

Radio controlled interference

If the reception is interrupted, the LCD display will show "- -". If this happens, please move the clock to another position where a valid signal can be received.
If there is no radio controlled reception the clock can be set manually by following below procedures. Once a successful reception is received the clock will correct itself automatically to the radio control time.

  • The radio control reception will improve if the clock is placed near to a window with curtains and blinds open.
  • Do not place the item too near to electrical appliances such as televisions, microwaves, speakers, computers or fax machines.

Manual time setting DCF version

(Germany & European countries)
If a signal is not received after 10 minutes or if you wish to set the time before the signal is received, follow below procedures to set the time manually.

  • Press and hold the time set button for approximately 5 seconds to enable manual setting. The minute hand will move at an increased speed.
  • When the hands rotate nearer to the desired time, press time set button repetadly to adjust the minute hand to desired time.
  • Once set to desired time, press and hold the time set button for approx 2 seconds to confirm the setting.


Once a desired time is set the clock will correct itself to a radio controlled time once a valid signal is received.

Date display

Once a valid signal is received and time is corrected briefly press the time button to toggle between the date and seconds display.

Reset function

The clock has a hands setting help function. By pressing the reset button at any time, the hands will automatically move to the 12 o'clock position. The motor will then stop, and display will show letters "bc". At that point the battery must be removed. Please wait at least 1 minute before reinserting the battery to start reception. The display will show the letters "bc".

Battery check system

If the battery is running low, the display will show the flashing letters "bc". A new battery should now be inserted.
